Daniel Kenu, the Daily Graphic journalist who was allegedly beaten by thugs led by Baffour Gyan, an ex-international and brother of Asamoah Gyan has been sacked.

The thugs physically assaulted Kenu after he had asked Gyan about the whereabouts of his musician friend Castro in the build up to their opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda in Kumasi.

He wanted the Al Ain striker to set the record straight after being accused of sacrificing his musician, who disappeared alongside a female friend on a holiday trip in Ada, for ritual.

But Kenu’s question was deemed inappropriate and those close to Gyan wanted to whip him into line.

A dismissal letter dated 17 November explained why the state-owned newspaper wanted to terminate his contract with their Ashanti Regional Editor.

"You failed to disclose your intention to management before and after you took your personal decision to withdraw the suit from the court, thus your actions brought the image of the company into disrepute," signed by the acting director HR & Admin of Graphic Group of Communications Justice Michael Sarpong.

Late September, chairperson for the Board of Graphic Communications Group Dr Doris Yaa Dartey labelled as betrayal the decision by  Kenu to discontinue his legal action against Asamoah Gyan’s elder brother Baffour Gyan.
