Ghana defender John Boye will go under the knife on Monday to fix a recurring groin injury that has robbed him off a place in the Black Stars squad to face Egypt later this month.
The 26-year-old has had to withdraw from the Black Stars squad for the crucial 2014 World Cup playoff against Egypt over the same problem.
Boye’s withdrawal has compounded the problems in Ghana’s defence, as Isaac Vorsah and Jonathan Mensah have also been lost through injury.
The former Heart of Lions defender can no longer take any more pain haven played through the pain barrier for both club and country over a year now.
He is now being prepared for surgery to finally fix his troublesome groin problem.
The Stade Rennes stopper will be operated on on Monday at a yet to be disclosed medical facility in France.
