General News of Monday, 14 May 2012Source: citifmonline.com Merger talks between the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) will resume soon.
The meeting will among other things discuss the form the merger will take, according to party officials.
The two Nkrumahist parties have been negotiating behind the scenes over the past years to form a united Nkrumahist front ahead of the 2012 elections.
The flagbearer of the PNC, Hassan Ayariga, told Citi News their discussions have been fruitful and an official announcement will be made pretty shortly.
“By the end of the week, we must have some talk about the merger,” he said.
Ayariga said when the two parties meet, they will discuss about the eventual merger and its possible challenges now that they have both chosen their presidential candidates and gone through successful congress.
He said both parties are optimistic and looking forward to return to the merger talks.**
