CPP and PNC merger is the uniting force for Nkrumaists -Mornah

Posted On Saturday, 12th May 2012

General News of Saturday, 12 May 2012Source: GNA Mr. Bernard Mornah, PNC General Secretary, on Saturday described the merger deal between the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the Peoples National Convention (PNC) as the best yardstick to unite the Nkrumaist front.

He noted that PNC was part of Nkrumah’s heritage and legacy and therefore advocated for the unity between the two parties in winning the 2012 General Elections.

Mr. Mornah said this to the GNA in an interview at Sekondi, on the occasion of the CPP national delegate congress held in the Western Region.

He expressed the hope that the national executive of the CPP would be inspired by this merger deal and help move up the Nkrumaist front to the next level.

Expressing his views on the congress, Mr. Monah said he was impressed with the general turn out and effective organisation.

“With the exit of Nduom Factor, we did not expect the number of people we are seeing today, the jamboree alone is evident the CPP spirit is still high,” he said.

The contest for the flagbearership of the CPP party is between Mr. Bright Akwetey, an astute lawyer and Dr. Abu Sakara, an agronomist.

Meanwhile, lots of delegates and party members have expressed disappointment at the late start of the congress as it was originally scheduled to take place at midday, but as at 1600 hours it had not even begun.**
