Sarpei says Ghana has good future
Bayer Leverkusen defender Hans Sarpei, whose Black Stars side on Sunday lost 1-0 in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations to Egypt, thinks the future of Ghana football is bright.
Egyptian super-sub Mohamed Nagui, who is also known by his nickname Gedo, came off the bench and scored the winner in the 85th minute, giving him his fifth goal of the tournament and his country a third successive title.

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac included eight players who won the World Youth Cup in October last year in his squad and they impressed as they took the team to the final.

"You know they are good players and they helped us get this far and it shows that we have a future. Whether there will be that many at the World Cup remains to be seen," Sarpei said.

"I am sure some will be there, but I think we need to have a few more experienced players at the World Cup," he said.

Sarpei said it was still a very disappointing defeat.

"It is very difficult to say anything at this stage. We played well, but then conceded a goal five minutes from time.

"It is difficult to come back from that and react."

He said that going to the World Cup was no consolation.

"The defeat will be difficult, even if we go to the World Cup.

"I am very happy that we went to the final, but the World Cup is not really consolation.

"The Nations Cup is something completely different, in the final you either win or lose and unfortunately we lost and that is always a difficult thing to overcome."
