The Ghana team was scheduled to play host nation Serbia on Tuesday night in Group A but the West Africans failed to show up.
So the Ghanaian are billed to have lost the game by 3-0 to Serbia and are bottom of the Group with no points and minus three goals.
They have disappointed Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac, who is on holidays in his home country, but pitched camp waiting to help the Ghanaian technical handlers during the tournament.
The matches could have even given the Ghana coach the
opportunity to see if any of the students can play for the Black Stars or the other junior national teams.
The Ghana Embassy officials in Serbia who were also keen on helping out the squad during their stay have been left in the dark.
Embassy officials have been making frantic phone calls to Ghana as well as scouring the airports for information but to no avail.
Organisers also have no information on when the Ghana team are to arrive.
Ghana are among the two African countries to have qualified and there has been no information to the organisers about their arrivals plans.
Other African countries who are participating in other events at the competition have condemned the Ghanaians as having wasted the African slot.
Some countries like South Africa and Nigeria said they could have put in a decent challenge to salvage.
Ghana are bill to play Mexico on Thursday before playing Britain on Saturday to complete their group matches. |
