Maaskant is hoping his team can exploit Sparta Rotterdam's leaky defence when the teams meet in the Eredivisie on Sunday.
Second-placed Breda are looking to maintain their challenge at the top of the table and Maaskant is hoping they can add to the 29 goals Sparta have conceded in their 12 matches this season.
But the coach is hoping that his top scorer Amoah can join the side ahead of the clash ion Sunday as the Ghanaian is suffering from a hamstring injury.
"He (Amoah) has not trained today," said Maaskant.
"It would be a blow if he could not play, also because we don't have Rob Penders and Tommie van der Leegte.
"That would be three players who form the spine of the team. Still, I have hope that he can play. If not, Fouad Idabdelhay will play."
Rotterdam, 13th in the table, go into the match buoyed by a 4-0 victory over FC Volendam and a 3-3 draw with De Graafschap, but coach Foeke Booy knows Breda will be a step up in class.
"It is very good that we won the match against Volendam and took a point against De Graafschap," said Booy.
"It gives us hope for the near future. NAC Breda is a difficult game."
