Ghana defender John Boye has been ruled out of Wednesday's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo in Lome.

The centre-back defender suffered a serious injury during Monday's training session at the Accra Stadium.

He was helped off the pitch by the medical team.

“[John] Boye picked up an injury to his ankle in training,” Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie-Daara said.

"He was looked at by the medical team and is continuing treatment. He will not travel with the team for the game in Togo.”

In his absence, Maritzburg United’s Mohammed Awal will replace him in the starting line-up and partner Jonathan Mensah.
