Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris made the headlines in France over the weekend after bagging a brace in Valenciennes' 2-2 home draw with Sochaux while Christian Atsu netted his fourth goal of the season for Vitesse Arnhem on Sunday night. 

Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari both played for AC Milan who picked a 2-0 win over Sampdoria in the Serie A while youngster Shadrach Eghan dazzled in FC Twente's stalemate with Ajax Armsterdam.

GERMANY

Kevin-Prince Boateng was booked in the 78th minute and lasted the entire 90 minutes for Schalke who failed to beat Mainz 05 as they drew 0-0 at the Veltins Arena.

Midfielder Anthony Annan was not in the Schalke team for the game.

Karim Bellarabi was not in the Eintracht Braunschweig team when they suffered a 2-1 away loss to Nurnberg.

In the Bundesliga II, Energie Cottbus suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Erzgebirge Aue and 2012 Ghana AFCON midfielder Charles Takyi was not in the Cottbus team for the game.

German-born Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah was in full time action for Arminia Bielefeld when they lost 2-0 at home to Ingolstadt. Reagy Ofosu was not in the Ingolstadt team for the game.

Elsewhere in the Liga 3 still in Germany, Frederick Kyereh came off the bench to play 22 minutes for Elversberg in their slim 1-0 win over Wacker Burghausen.

Evans Owusu Nyarko played the entire regulation minutes for Borussia Dortmund II who beat MSV Duisburg 2-0 at the Stadion Rote Erde in Dortmund. Phil Ofosu-Aryeh played full time for Duisburg.

FRANCE

Black Stars striker Abdul Majeed Waris scored all two goals for Valenciennes when they drew 2-2 with Sochaux. Olympique Marseille attacker Jordan Ayew was taken off the game after 82 minutes.

Defender Jonathan Mensah returned from suspension to warm the bench for Evian TG when they lost 2-1 at Bordeaux.

Andre Ayew inspired Olympique Marseille to a 1-0 win over Lorient at the Stade Velodrome. Young attacker Kevin Osei failed to make the first team grades.

John Boye played his first 90 minutes for Stade Rennes since August 2013 after helping them to beat Nantes 3-0.

In the Ligue 2, injured Kwame Nsor watched from the stands as his Metz side beat Clermont 1-0 on Saturday.

AS Monaco loanee Dennis Appiah anchored the defence for Caen and helped them hold Niort to a 0-0 draw at their own backyard.

ENGLAND

Derek Boateng was not selected by new Fulham manager Felix Magath when his side managed to hold West Bromwich Albion to a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns.

In the Championship, Ghanaian teen Koby Arthur was not in the Birmingham City that beat Blackpool.

Jeffrey Schulpp played 90 minutes and helped Leicester City to a comfortable 3-0 win over Ipswich Town.

Albert Adomah came off the bench in the 72nd minute for Middlesbrough who drew 0-0 with Leeds United.

Emmanuel Frimpong was booked in the 78th minute and played full time for Barnsley and helped them beat Millwall 1-0.

SCOTLAND

Arsenal loanee Daniel Boateng warmed the bench for Hibernian when they 1-1 at Kilmarnock.

Kevin Luckassen was axed from the Ross County team when they beat Saint Mirren 2-1.

ITALY

Hellas Verona returned to their winning ways after beating Livorno 3-2 at the Stadio Armando Picchi. Alfred Duncan played full time for Livorno but youngster Godfred Donsah warmed the bench for Verona.

Michael Essien replaced Sulley Muntari in the 64th minute in AC Milan's 2-0 win over Sampdoria.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu played 88 minutes for Udinese in their 1-1 home draw with Atalanta.

AC Milan loanee Kingsley Boateng came off the bench in the 71st minute to for Catania in their 2-0 away defeat to Chievo Verona.

Kwadwo Asamoah set up Carlos Tevez for Juventus' 1-0 home win over Torino in the Turin derby.

Raman Chibsah played the entire first half for Sassuolo in their 3-2 away defeat to Lazio.

Isaac Ntow and Mase Nana Addo Welbeck were not in the Brescia team when they lost 1-0 at Crotone.

Carpi were beaten 2-1 at their own home grounds by Cesena and, Fiorentina loanee Maxwell Acosty was only brought on in second-half injury time.

SPAIN

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom was unused by Elche FC who suffered a 3-0 away loss to Real Madrid. Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Anaba failed to make the Elche first team squad for the game even though he trained with the first team before the game.

Youngster Fatau Mohammed replaced Fran Rico in the 21st minute in Granada's 2-1 loss at Valencia.

Richard Boateng was on the Granada bench for the second week running.

Thomas Partey dropped to the Mallorca bench in their 0-0 away draw with Mirandés.

In the Liga 3, Paul Quaye came off the Espanyol II bench to play 23 minutes when they beat Villarreal 1-0.

Clifford Aboagye still failed to play for Granada II when they beat Atlético Sanluqueno 1-0.

NETHERLANDS

Christian Atsu scored his fourth goal of the season for Vitesse Arnhem when they crawled from behind to beat RKC Waalwijk 3-1 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday. Mitch Apau was unused by RKC.

Kodjo Amevor was brought on in the 86th minute by Go Ahead Eagles who lost 3-2 at ADO Den Haag.

Johan Kappelhof was at the heart of defence for Groningen who suffered a 1-0 away loss to FC Utrecht.

Jeffrey Sarpong came off the bench in the 57th minute to play in NAC Breda's 0-0 draw at Heerenveen.

Elvis Manu inspired Cambuur's surge as he played 83 minutes in their 1-0 win over Roda JC.

Fred Benson was a 38th minute substitute by PEC Zwolle who drew 1-1 with Heracles Almelo. Kwame Quansah was brought on in the 89th minute but Matthew Amoah and Edwin Gyasi were both not in the Heracles team.

Shadrach Eghan played 57 minutes in FC Twente's 2-2 home draw with Feyenoord.

In the second-tier division, youngster Kevin Tete lost his place in the Jong Ajax team when they hammered Sparta Rotterdam 4-2 at their own backyard.

Jonathan Opoku was a full-timer for Oss who lost 1-0 to Telstar on Friday.

Erixon Danso played 73 minutes for Dordrecht who lost 3-2 to Eindhoven.

Fortuna Sittard made things easy with a 4-1 thrashing of Jong Twente. Swedish-born Ghanaian attacker Patrick Amoah warmed the Sittard bench but Mustapha Yahaya came off the Twente bench in the 66th minute to play the game.

BELGIUM

Bennard Kumordzi was brought on in the 63rd minute by Genk who were beaten 2-0 at home by Waasland-Beveren.

Daniel Opare was replaced in the 55th minute by Standard Liege when they lost 3-2 to Gent who had Nana Akwasi Asare playing full-time.

Enock Adu Kofi was axed from the Club Brugge first team squad when they disgraced OH Leuven 5-2 at their own backyard.

Abdul Yakinu-Iddi could not return in time from injury to play in KV Mechelen's 3-2 away loss to Cercle Brugge. But French-born Ghanaian defender Jerry Vandam was introduced in the 66th minute.

Former Heart of Lions midfielder Abraham Kudemor came off the bench in the 67th minute to play for Sporting Charleroi when they defeated a stubborn Zulte-Waregem 3-2 to cushion themselves on the league table.

Anderlecht's season got worse when Lokeren beat them 2-1 on Friday night and with winger Frank Acheampong missing from the Anderlecht team with injury youngster Eugene Ansah warmed the Lokeren bench.

TURKEY

Jerry Akaminko was at the heart of defence for Eski?ehirspor who managed a vital 0-0 away draw at Antalyaspor.

Emmanuel Osei Banahene was not involved in action for ?anl?urfaspor who beat Adana Demirspor 2-0.

NB. Other Ghanaian players (Shaibu Yakubu, Torric Jebril, Kwame Karikari and Richard Kingson) will be involved in action on Monday and Tuesday.

SWITZERLAND

Ishmael Yartey was brought on after the end of the first-half by FC Sion when they lost 3-1 at FC Thun in the Swiss Super League. Ebenezer Assifuah was not in the Sion team for the game.

Samuel Afum was brought on with a minute to full-time when his Young Boys side improved their title chances with a 2-1 at Luzern.

PORTUGAL

Haminu Dramani was not in the Gil Vicente team when they lost 2-1 at Olhanense.

Alhassan Wakaso was booked in the 28th minute and played full-time for Portimonense  who held Santa Clara to a 0-0 draw.

ROMANIA

Muniru Sulley was not in the CFR Cluj team when they shared the spoils with Vaslui in a 0-0 draw.

Astra Giurgiu posted a comfortable 3-0 win over Corona Bra?ov. All three Ghanaian players (Uriah Asante, Seidu Yahaya and Sadat Bukari were not in the Astra team for the game.

CROATIA

Defender Lee Addy was a full-timer for Dinamo Zagreb who beat bottom-placed Hrvatski Drago 1-0.

FRIENDLIES

Adam Kwarasey was in the post on Saturday for Stromsgodset when CSKA Moscow hammered them 3-0 but new signing Mohammed Abu could not make the first team squad.

Ema Boateng scored the equalising goal for Helsingborg IF in their 1-1 friendly draw with Danish side Lyngby on Saturday. However David Accam could not play in the game.

DENMARK

Kevin Mensah played 86 minutes for Viborg who drew 1-1 with Randers FC. His youngster brother Jeff Mensah was not in the Viborg team for the game.

Francis Dickoh warmed the bench for Midtjylland when OB narrowly beat 2-1 in the Super Lig.

SOUTH AFRICA

Fatau Dauda was not in action for Orlando Pirates in the South African Cup when they crawled from behind to beat Thanda Royal Zulu 3-1 on penalties.

Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi, Yakubu Mohammed and Awal Mohammed all played for Maritzburg United in their 2-1 win over Mpumalanga.

UAE

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan was in full time action for ten-man AI Ain who lost 1-0 to Al Nasr.

SAUDI ARABIA

Saddick Adams did not play for Al Nahdha who they condemned Al Shabab to a 4-1 loss.
