Henry Wellignton is confident Kotoko will retain their Premier League crown
Kotoko assistant coach Henry Wellington believes the club will win back-to-back the Premier League crown this season.
Wellington guided the Porcupine Warriors to win their first silverware of the season by beating New Edubiase 2-0 to lift the country’s Super Cup of Sunday.
In-form striker Kofi Nti Boakye scored two goals in each half to hand the Ghanaian champions a massive morale booster ahead of their title defence this term.
The former King Faisal and Sekondi Hasaacas trainer was delighted with the performance of his team and said it reinforced his belief the team can go all the way in the coming season.
“I am happy with our pre-season form and I have no doubt in my mind that we will retain the Premier League title,” Wellington said
“We are ready for any team. We are not going to allow any team to take the title from us.
“Preparations for this season have gone on well and I am very happy with the progress made.
The Kumasi-based club will begin their title defence with a home game against newly promoted Amidaus Professionals on October 7.
Coach Wellington tipping Kotoko to retain the leagu title cannot be scientific. He should wait for the league to begin. New Edubiase have lost many of their crack players to other local and foreign clubs, and they are at the moment rebuilding their team. Winning the league cannot be decided now, Wellington should wait.
