Coach Maxwell Konadu says there will be no favours for Kotoko players when he assumed his role as Black Stars assistant coach.

Speculations have been rife that coach Konadu’s appointment as the assistant coach of the West African giant will inure to the benefit of players of the Porcupine Warriors.

There are many who believe the appointment of the two countrymen will offer the platform for more local players to break into the star- studded Black Stars with fears majority of Kotoko players could be favoured.

But 39-year-old, has rubbished the reports insisting call-ups into the national team will soleley be based on merit and not his affiliation with the Kumasi-based club.

“I honestly don’t think it will be fair for people to begin to think this way and make such wild allegations,”

“It will not be fair to give special attention to Kotoko players to Kotoko players.

“Kwesi Appiah has said all. All players have equal chance of playing in the team and once a player meets the laid down criteria, so be it.

“It should not be based on favours but on merit,”
