Italian legend Gennaro Gattuso wants Ghanaian winger Ishmael Yartey at Sion this summer.
This comes after the Swiss Super League side officially put in a bid last week to sign the Ghana winger.
Yartey’s parent club Benfica have called him back from a successful loan spell at Swiss side Servette but Gattuso who joined Sion after being released by AC Milan says the winger is central to the future plans of the club.
“I like Ishmael Yartey very much. I hope we can get him,” Gattuso said.
The 22-year-old scored twice against Sion whose coach Sébastien Fournier believes he could be key in his bid to secure European football at the club.
FC Sion suffered points deduction last season but managed to escape relegation and have acquired AC Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso.
French Ligue 1 sides Lille, Olympique Marseille, Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and German side Borussia Monchengladbach have emerged as possible suitors for Yartey.
Yartey scored eight goals for Servette last season.
