Emmanuel Clottey is set to terminate Esperance contract as the club have failed to pay the transfer fee
Berekum Chelsea general manager Oduro Sarfo has revealed striker Emmanuel Clottey is yet to terminate his contract with Tunisian giants Esperance.
The 24-year-old is on the brink of quitting the Tunis-based side after they failed to settle the transfer in his three-year-contract.
Esperance have sent a termination contract to the striker who bagged 12 goals in last season’s CAF Champions League but he is yet to agree to the termination.
“They sent the termination contract but he (Clottey) has not signed it yet,” Chelsea manager Oduro Sarfo told Accra-based Happy FM.
He explained why the 25-time Tunisian Ligue 1 title winners have not yet honoured their part of the contract.
“It just pains them that they are going to pay the transfer fee and when the case gets to FIFA, they will be punished because they have done a similar thing.”
I think Clottey, if eligible, should should play in the CHAN and see if he can prove himself there. His penalty miss in the CAN and his failure to have any impact when he was put in games during this CAN seriously hurt his standing. He truly needs to do something big to save his career.
