CK Akunnor has been sacked as Hearts of Oak coach

Hearts of Oak have terminated the contract of head coach CK Akunnor, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

The ex-Ghana captain’s fate was decided after a board of directors meeting at the club’s secretariat on Wednesday.

Akunnor’s job was on the line after losing three league matches in a row in the five-week old Ghana Premier League.

He also recorded one win and draw to leave the club in 13th place on the log sheet.

“Management decided to relieve him of his post because some players have ganged up against him and that was affecting the club,” a source told MTNFootball.com

Akunnor was appointed in March this year after the club’s severed ties with Serbian coach Nebojsa Vucicevic.

Hearts have lined up David Duncan, JE Sarpong and Maxwell Konadu, who won the league with Kotoko last season, as his replacement.

is very good to sack this coach

  3. Kpogas says:

Wow, Hmmmmmmm! Lets see what the next coach will also come and do. Bcos of just those defeat, u’ve sack ur coach. This is better than resignation bcos u need compensation. Put pressure on them for ur compensation and look for another team. Do U(hearts of rubber) think coaching is easy? We live to see. Any problem, u blame Coach. KOTOKO will WALLUP U the coming match ie 18/11/12. Amen!

  4. owusu duah felix says:

i don’t think ck akunnor is the problem but bad recruitement and at the moment no coach is ready to coach hearts of oak.

  5. cwadjo says:

this is really bad for GH soccer. Every mistake is the fault of the coach not the technical team nor players. when are going to have better coaches like Sir Fergursson and Arsene Wenger in our league. Remember rome wasnt built in a day. The man left National duties because of his undying love for his job at Hearts, and this is how you pay him back. This is unprofessional.

  6. Abeiku says:

I wonder what would happen if the next coach continues to lose matches with the team??? “Management decided to relieve him of his post because SOME players have GANGED UP AGAINST HIM and that was affecting the club,” – This is a sign of a very WEAK AND INCOMPETENT Management!!! The whole club and for this matter THIS MANAGEMENT is HELD AT RANSOME BY S O M E (SOME) players, not even the whole playing body or majority of the players, but SOME players! THESE PLAYERS ARE NOW IN CHARGE OF THIS FAMOUS CLUB AND CONTROLS BOTH MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL TEAM ! A very sad story indeed!!!

  7. POW says:

SOME PLAYERS HAVE GANGED UP AGINST CK ?

And management sacked the coach instead? Oh well. The bible says: Woe to the nations whose kings are babes. What kind of thinking is this Hasi foobia?

  8. Maxwell Johnson says:

Oh chaley!!! Bad decision by the mgt, I hope they dont regret it in the future. I seriously think Duncan will be a perfect replacement but I doubt if he will consider taking the job.

  9. Fresher says:

I predicted this development when CK AKKUNOR was appointed, and some guys like KT, BABA, SETH, MAXWELL JOHNSON etc, launched a whole lots of blistering attacks against me as to why I should predict that. And now this is it, alas, like a clockwork, my grim predictions has come with a vengeance. The only prediction that has not happened is the physical assault on CK AKKUNOR.

  10. kuukuphily says:

Akunnor got nothing to do with hearts failure plus is very early into the season why not give him the chance to get the team together.u hire a coach today fire him tomorrow how can there be chemistry in the team.

  11. regga molten says:

oh what a pity?..hearts will never learn!
as i said before, the problem is not the coach but is the mgt. and board..buy good players for the coach and all will be well with our darling club’PHOBIA’ and stop dis firing of innocent coaches…hypocrites!

  12. Tadi boy says:

Hahahahahahahaha,i said it over here when he was appointed.Ck is a very bad manager..he took a 4th placed team on the league to relegation,so wat were u thinking,to win de league?..Ck fans of Sekondi XIwise will never 4give u..u sake 18players including 10 regular players in de name of rebuildin de team n cudnt handle Dan Quaye…Ofun ck

  13. nana k says:

Talkin about a new coach, Hearts should take a look at Pollock if he is free….
