Everton will be without Ghana winger Christian Atsu for their second leg Europa League clash against Young Boys on Thursday, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The 23-year-old has picked up an unspecified virus which will prevent him from making an expected start in tonight’s game at Goodison Park.

Everton are yet to give specifics on the virus suffered by the in-form Ghana winger.

The on-loan Chelsea man overly impressed at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where he played a stellar role in Ghana’s silver-winning feat in Equatorial Guinea.

He was eventually named Player of the Tournament in recognition of his impressive displays.

Atsu showed glimpses of his genius when he assisted in the weekend’s draw with Leicester City where he provided the vital assist for the equalizer having come on as a substitute.

That performance has shot the Ghanaian up the perking order and was widely expected to start against Young Boys in the Europa League where Everton carry a commanding 4-1 lead.

The virus will however prevent the former FC Porto man for making his long-awaited start and it is unclear how long the virus will keep him out for.
