Chelsea signing Hazard rejected bigger offer from Man Utd

Chelsea won the signature of Eden Hazard last month, despite their offer being less than Manchester United’s.

Sport/Voetbalmagazin says by the end of last season, the former Lille star had offers on the table from eight major European clubs: Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

After weeks of negotiations, the race came down to a final two – Chelsea and United.

United actually tabled the richer contract – and Hazard was impressed. However, Chelsea‘s Champions League triumph convinced him to go with the Blues and after talks with management believes they will be playing a more attacking brand of football next season.
