Chelsea, FC Porto and PSV sent scouts to watch Waris on Saturday

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris is attracting huge interest as European champions Chelsea, FC Porto and PSV Eindhoven sent scouts to watch him on Saturday.

Chelsea chief scout Piet de Visser was in the stands at the Rambergsvallen on Saturday to assess the qualities of the 21-year-old who hit a stunning hat-trick for BK Hacken and masterminded the 5-1 defeat of Syrianska FC.

Portuguese giants FC Porto and Dutch Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven as well as seven other top European clubs also had their scouts on attendance.

Waris has been a target of several top flight European clubs since becoming the first player in the Swedish top flight to score five times in a single game in May.

Manchester City Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira was in Sweden to monitor him in September.

The Black Stars striker has been in devastating shape form for BK Hacken scoring 24 times in all competitions this season.

  1. Pinto says:

My little piece of advice to Majeed Warris is that he should choose not based on team popularity but he should choose the club where hell be needed. That is the only way to be a legend. The big clubs want to buy him n keep him an asset in future because u r 20. That is wat has killed adiyiah, ransford etc…Big teams will bench u!!!…A word to the wise….

    • Bond says:

Jux hope u get a team in one of the top notch leagues in da world preferably england and get out 4rm that mediocre swedish league. Also praying u continue da same level of performance wereva ya go

    • Robb says:

You are right and wrong at the same time. Balotelli, Jordan Ayew, Welbeck, Frimpong, Inkoom, and Atsu. These were 20 or less when they joined elite clubs. Talent is talent but there are more talented players than others.

  2. Kenneth County says:

Well done Bro. Pinto for this invaluable advice to this latest hot shot. He should really go where his services are needed and where he would not become a benchwarmer. He is not only a cool and clinical finisher, but he is also able to take on defenders and make chances for himself. I think Akwasi Appiah should give him a chance and I believe he will deliver for Ghana.

  3. JERRO,GREECE says:

@ kenneth county and Pinto, i just hope the kid reads your comments and takes them in good faith too. I was just wondering why Kwasi Appiah prefers Jordan and co over him in his selection. Hmmmm, our coaches sometimes baffle me paa oo.

  4. Dr Who says:

I believe if Waris get the chance to play just like Jordan & Adiyiah were given for the stars he will establish himself.AA should give him a chance.

    • Robb says:

The best comment on this discussion. If Warris is given 90 minutes to play, he will be chosen as our best striker in the Black Star. He is a very hard working striker I have seen the black stars, scoring goals and assisting, plus great winger on both right and left of midfield.

  5. quophai says:

Its funny how we keep saying the Swedish League is inferior. I remember Prince Tagoe was making a name in Saudi Arabia when he was drafted into the national team, Mikel Obi was bought from Linn Oslo in Norway, the Zambia captain was playing in China when they won the AFCON 2012. What a player needs is confidence, consistency and support. I don’t remember the last time a Ghanaian striker kept banging in goals in europe like this guy, let’s encourage him by fielding him at least for abt 20 mins in each match…

    • Robb says:

He is currently the best striker and goal king in Sweden, not only scoring but scoring great goals plus he is an expert PK taker.
Ghanaians are never satisfied with what we have. We are reading this article about great clubs going after our boy yet we condemn him. OH GHANA, Dab3n!!!!

  6. DAVE says:

    another junk Ghanasucker.net report Lmaooo

  7. Asempa says:

I believe god has blessed ghana with two talented players who plays in swedish league that is waris and david accam. Akwasi appia surpose to call accam if he really want to win a trophy a word to a wise is………

  8. keith from germany says:

i agree with u bro quophai.i dont realy understand why some fellow forumites here always call the swedish league inferior league.
á good player can player everywhere no matter what what kind of league he plays.
let us call a spade a spade.to honest with u guys when was the last time a ghanaian striker scored over 20 goals in an european league.even our main man gyan highest score rate was 13 goals in the 2009/2010 season with stade rennes in the french ligue 1.
let us just give him the crdit he derserves n stop calling the kind of leagues our players play inferior.

  9. Maxwell Johnson says:

It will be better to move to the Dutch Eredivisie, that will aid his development and the big clubs will come knocking after he has become a much better player. Waris has a bright future ahead of him,I urge all Ghanaians to rally behind this young chap and give him all the necessary prayer and support.

  10. Waris supporter says:

Lets hope he makes a wise decision and chooses a club that will be a steppingstone.

In my point of view, at this point in his career, The Dutch league is the way forward for him.

  11. Maxwell Boateng says:

We should allow this young talented boy 2 decide, the club that will suit his professional carrer, and it’ll be a beneficial 2 all Ghanaian’s.warris go on and flag the name of Ghana 2 the highest level.
