Chelsea defender Luiz proud of reaching Champions League final: My family are here to watch

David Luiz is proud to be preparing with Chelsea for his first Champions League final.

The defender will be fit to face Bayern Munich on Saturday.

He told the London Evening Standard: “When I was a kid in Brazil it was my dream and now I get my chance to play in the Champions League Final.

“Everyone will stop to watch the game. My father and my mother come here to support the club and I’m happy to have my family here [to see the game].

“I took treatment on my hamstring every day, in the morning, in the afternoon and evening.

“People don’t know that but I was always hopeful and now I’m so happy because I am 100 per cent. I can do all the movements and I am so happy for that.

“In the Champions League Final it is always difficult. The other team are very good and they deserve to play in the final with Chelsea.

“It is the best game in the world and is being played in Munich. Bayern play at home and that makes it more difficult. Can we cope without the players who are suspended? For sure they are important players. [Branislav] Ivanovic, John [Terry], Ramires, and [Raul] Meireles.

“But my team-mates are very good players. It would be special if we won. This is the best game in the world for big teams and I am so happy to play this final and I hope we win.”
