Chelsea could let Essien leave with Colombian set to arrive

English giants Chelsea have targeted signing Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin as replacement for out-favour Ghana star Michael Essien, according to reports in the British media.

The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea and has played just three times in the Premier League this season while the Blues are struggling to find a strong defensive midfielder.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has identified Guarin who would cost the London side  £15 million.

Nigerian John Mikel, Ramirez and Oscar are already preferred to the Ghana international and with the Colombian international set to arrive, Essien will have no option than to seek a future elsewhere.

But Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has indicated in the past he will add the Black Stars midfielder to his squad for the knock stages of the Uefa Champions League.

Is Guarin a holding midfielder? If no, then this report is useless. I know Guarin to be an attacking midfielder/winger.

That is football. One minute you are a hero and invisible and the next minute you are a toothless tiger.
Essien is still a quality player. He should keep enjoying his £120,000 a week and leave as a free agent.
The world world cup will vindicate him.

Thank you Sir! ” No bloody fears” – “Panuu insro”!
His contract runs till 30.06.2015 and no one is sacking him! It is even good for the BS because he would be top fit for the WC 2014 in Brazil!! True, true Benny this statement of yours has made my day ; “Essien is still a quality player. He should keep enjoying his £120,000 a week and leave as a free agent.” THANK YOU SIR!!!

Chelsea is useless substitute in Chelsea. His level is far below Chelsea need. Chelsea need stronger DMC. Mourinho Daddy-hood dones not keep his staying in Chelsea. It is thought that Chelsea will end contract with Essien.
