Charlton Athletic manager Chris Powell is interested in signing Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng on loan.

Local media reports say he has already made inquiries about the player’s availability.

Boateng, 30, is desperate for a loan move to catch the eye of Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah ahead of the World Cup squad selections.

The 30-year-old has been unused at English Premier League side Fulham since playing in the FA Cup 1-1 draw with Norwich City last month.

Boateng has been out of the Ghana squad since playing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where the Black Stars finished fourth.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will definitely exclude the former Granada player from his final 23-man squad due to the available many active midfielders.
