Charles Taylor warns Uriah Asante over Kotoko switch

Posted On Wednesday, 4th July 2012

Uriah Asante has been warned not to sign for Kotoko

Berekum Chelsea winger Charles Taylor fears Uriah Asante’s career could end prematurely if he signs for Asante Kotoko.

The exciting Pure Joy enforcer is on the verge of sealing a move to the Premier League Champions after he ended his season’s long-loan at Hearts of Oak last term.

But a proposed $200,000 offer from Tunisian side Etoile Du Sahel has put the move of the 19-year-old to the Kumasi-based side in serious doubt.

Taylor, 30, switched camp from Hearts to Kotoko in a  record transfer fee of US$42,000 under controversial circumstances in 2003 and flourish in his first season.

However his transfer to the Porcupine Warriors caused a lot of bitter sentiment towards the former Enugu Rangers player, from which his popularity waned drastically.

He claims he received death threat on his life by a popular Hearts fan Kwaku Adusei,   nicknamed ‘Kanewu’ and wants the impressive enforcer to be wary of any move to Kotoko.

“Kanewu once warned me that I will die if I try to leave Hearts and join Kotoko,” Taylor told Kumasi-based Angel FM

Taylor however wondered why players from both sides find it difficult to switch camps.

  2. Fifa One says:

SIMON BAADGHD you are the most useless chap and a fool, what he is saying is the truth, we are in professional world, and players are no different. I think players can switch camp as long as they think that the offer to them is good for their carrier and their life. But some useless and uncivilized people like you think that you can hold on to peoples life and their carrier just because of sentiment. Have you thought about the feeling and their future? FOOL SIMON BAADGHD THINK AS A HUMAN BEING AND NOT AS AN ANIMAL.

  5. Olembe. says:

I jux can’t get wht Charles Taylor mean at all. Ur spirit is different from Uriah Asante so why do u compare yourself to him. Well, this time we the fans of Kotoko are awake papa. We will anoint him b4 he touches any ball for. Trust me the guy will make it. Trust me Mahatma Otoo is about to join u in kotoko.

  6. crusader says:

hahahahaha!the way and manner Taylor switched camp to kotoko is different from Uriah’s case.players from both teams have been switching to the other yrs ago.i personally think the way taylor’s manager handled the case was so infantile by not following the due process.uriah is not a bonafide of the phobians but taylor was. Taylor failed to realised that he can never outsmart the phobians.

  7. devildog6773 says:

Attaboy Crusader, you hit the nail on the head. I wholeheartedly support player movement be it to Hearts or from. My issue here with Uriah was after watching the game with Kotoko, I notice that after flirting with Konadu, he started the game with a feigning effort and that to me was unprofessional. Then the same guy came on facebook after it was all said and done to tell me he will stay with Hearts only to hear of his departure somewhere, at this point nobody knows and cares at Hearts. We are deemed on recruiting committed players to fight the cause. The Netteys, the Addo’s, the Amankwa Mireku’s, Adjah Tettehs succeeded because they have Hearts of Oak at heart and not money as evident here.

  8. Nero,USA says:

Taylor thanks for the advise but know that Uriah Asante is Pure Joy player who has just completed his loan period at Hearts of Oak. U played for Kotoko and u didnt die,u are still alive and kicking . Uriah will never die playing for Kotoko, God is in control

  9. KT says:

The crocodile has spoken, no one else can challenge him on what goes on in the pond. A word to thw wise, is enough.

  10. PRINCE says:

Olebe i comply agree wid u. Tala s dffren frm Asanti by considring dis facts. (1) Asant s nt clam to b 13yrs les dan his nomal yrs as comprd to Tala bin 19 yrs wid 3 Kids by den.2) uri can scrutiniz any contract put b4 him b4 signg. as comprd toTala who signed a driving linsis fom wch lata becam an

  11. Henry says:

Oh phobians you are total myopic.Uriah is different from taylor.Asante will success at Kotoko, verfied from Kalilu Dramani,Champion Abrodey,Nicholas Addo and many others who benefit greatly when they don the famous red shirt of Asante Kotoko.

  12. ABS says:

Trash, crap, tosh, hocus-pocus, 4 crying out loud Kotoko is playin in e CAF Champs lg next season. Why doesnt Taylor advise Uriah nt to go to Etoile bcos it was Etoile dat destroyed Taylor’s career, nt his transfer frm Hearts to Kotoko. Players evn leave Madrid for Barca
