Berekum Chelsea captain Abdul Basit has taken some of the blame for his side’s poor start to the season.
The Blues have not won a game in the Ghanaian top flight since their opening day triumph over King Faisal.
Chelsea have been sliding down the Premier League log and again dropped vital points at home with a goalless draw against New Edubiase on Sunday.
The erratic form of the Berekum-based side has been a major concern for several Ghanaian football fans – especially as they are one of Ghana’s representatives in the next edition of the CAF Champions League.
Captain Abdul Basits admits he has not been doing enough to lift his side as he has been doing in the past.
“I think we just didn’t play well enough on the day [against New Edubiase]. The whole team did not show character and that affected us on the field of play,” captain Abdul Basit said.
“I will also personally take the blame for our performance and I say that because my performance was not the best on the day.
“As a leader, my play could have motivated the team but that was clearly not there yesterday. The team has to work harder to achieve its goals and I am sure we will work towards that in our subsequent matches.”
Chelsea are now 12th in the Ghanaian top flight with just six points from a possible 21.
