Ex-Cameroon international striker François Omam-Biyik says Ghana will not reach the semi-finals at 2014 Brazil World Cup because the Black Stars are not at the same level at the European countries at the tournament.

Many Africans are rooting for the Black Stars to reach the last four of the competition having reached the quarter-final at the previous event in South Africa in 2010.

Biyik, a veteran of three World Cups in 1990, 94 and 98, says the Black Stars will struggle claiming they are not at the same level at the Europeans.

“It is not possible for Ghana to reach the semi-finals because they are not on the same level with European teams but football is unpredictable if we have them or Nigeria its good, but it’s very difficult.”

The Black Stars of Ghana could have become the first African team to reach World Cup semifinal but were eliminated by Uruguay 4-2 on post-match penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regulation in South Africa four years ago.

Asamoah Gyan, had the chance to send his side to the last four after they were awarded a penalty in added time courtesy of Luis Suarez’s, handball but the former Sunderland striker hit the bar.

Ghana are in the proverbial Group of Death with three-time champions Germany, Portugal and USA.

Oman biyik great reknown seer Cameroon will qualify for semi finals.Think about your home team and not for Ghana. Cameroon just go in for the world title We always do not uplift ourselves but rather bring down thus Africa’s downfall.Praise when one is down.Oman Cameroon needs help.

  2. Kofi(Atlanta) says:

The last person to even say that. How were they rated against their Europeans counterparts when he was playing for Cameron? We have defeated European teams who were rated 2nd and 5th. The first time we beat US, they were rated 5th best in the world.
We have retired players like Naved, J Kolller, Bradley and corse so many coaches to resign. Thus man will chew his words.

  3. COCONUTHEAD says:

And what “level” is this Biyik guy talking about. If the playing field is level, Ghana will perform. Let the games begin. We are not talking about big names in those European teams that Biyik is talking about. We are talking a bunch of hungry, talented and gifted young men from Ghana that these European teams will face. The object of contention on the field will be a round leather and inflated object that every player will be vying for. May the most capable play. WE SHALL SEE.

  4. A concerned citizen says:

Oman Biyik paddle your own canoe and leave Ghana alone. Inferiority and jealousy go kill you . In 2006 when became “David” and killed “Goliath” Czech where were you? In 2010 when Ghana defended Africa where were you? You African colonial mentality coupled your perception will only happen to Cameroon and not Ghana “Tofiakwah”

  5. Ken says:

Guys, one step at a time. The plan is to qualify from the group first. Our defense is our weakest link, and that’s the concern to all soccer loving fans and that includes Oman Biyik.

  6. 21guns says:

Man why don’t you think of your own country enemies of progress.

  7. roberto says:

It’s only Oman Biyik who can qualify to the semi finals, when he scored that goal against world # 1 then Argentina’,Cameroon was among the best in the world.
    Shame unto you .Biyik

  8. ZG GH4LIFE says:

See a brainwashed African man? He has already settled for failure for his beloved continent, What level are the European teams, please tell us because they are humans just like us,we are even stronger than them,if African teams can just GET THAT WE WILL WIN mentality instead of the WE MIGHT WIN mentality. the sky will be the limit for Africa.

  9. selfmade says:

The guy is saying the truth and it hurts!! We will even struggle to make it out of the group stages judging by our performance in south Africa during the group stages!! People has not taken notices but Ghana has gradually developed notoriety of struggling against even weaker opponents during group stages!! People will say Ghanaians are slow starters which is understandable and that we have failed to take our full squad to afcon but what about the worldcup in south Africa where we made to the second round with the help of Australia beating Serbia and denying a clear goal? In gabon-guinea, we struggled against Botswana!!! We struggled against Mali too!! In south Africa, we struggled against common Dr Congo, struggled against Mali again, struggle against cape Verde of all country!! One noticeable thing about this group stages hustles is that, we have consistenly failed to peak at the right time in all these tournaments!! We all know we are in a very difficult, tight group in south Africa and we all know that if WE LOSE TO USA, we are definitely out and WE ALL KNOW THAT THERE IS A CHARM IN THIRD TRY!! We have consistently struggled against all of our opponents in our first matches for the past decades eg Botswana, Dr Congo, guinea in can 2008, I. Coast in Angola etc!! Our first matches has been poor and our so call semi finals ll depend on our first match!!

  10. selfmade says:

Again, Ghana has not beaten any WESTERN EUROPE TEAM BEFORE!! We have beaten a couple of eastern European countries like Czech and serbia but has always struggled against western European countries! All the western European countries we met at the WC,whooped our asses!! In Germany 2006, the Italy clinically annihilated us!!!! Fast forward to south Africa 2010 and Germany also beat us during the group stages and now our group in Brazil include s TWO WESTERN EUROPE COUNTRIES namely Germany and Portugal and the question is, can we beat these two western European countries!!! Now a vital information, Germany beat us 6-1 in Bochum in Germany, holland beat us by four goals to one in holland prior to south Africa and we even struggled to drw against under strength england team in Wembley!!! Italy also beat us in 2006 Germany WC and this should tell us that we an uphill task against Germany and Portugal against history is not on our side!!! This is the first time we have two WESTERN EUROPEAN countries in our group and the Oman is bad!! If we don’t take each match as it comes and start yupping and yakking, we ll be annihilated and shown the exit in the first round!!!

  11. selfmade says:

We have to shade that awful tag of ‘ slow starters’ and peak for our first match against united states otherwise we are in for a rude awakening comes june\ July in Brazil as the Americans are bent on revenging all their painful defeats to us right from the age competitions to their men team successive losses to us in Germany and south Africa respectively! If we start slowly as usual, US ll beat us and then bide farewell to our WC dreams!! This is serious and we have to take notice!! For the past decade, all our first matches has been quite awful to say the least!! Starting from CAN 2008 against guinea in a packed ohene djan stadium, we nearly got disgraced by a very determined guinea team led by their fabulous captain pascal feinduono!! In Angola, I coast completely annihilated us by 3 goals to 1 and that was our first match too in afcon!! Cometh gabon- eq guinea and we shockingly struggled mightly against a novice, debutant and a football minnow like Botswana and we were lucky against them! In recent south Africa afcon, we surrendered a healthy two goal cushion to common Dr Congo and we were lucky to split the points with them and this was our first match too!! Now in the WC, all the western European countries has beaten us italy and Germany and we lost our first WC match to Italy!! If we are not careful, we ll be among the first casualties in the first round exit in Brazil!!! HISTORY ALWAYS REPEAT ITSELF!! In Germany 2006, we met a western European country of italy, we lost cleanly! In south Africa, we met an eastern European country( Serbia), we won but we couldn’t best Germany! Now in Brazil, our first match is against USA and am hoping we don’t choke because this is a different match!!!
