CAF set up fund to cater for needy ex footballers

CAF has approved a budget to set up a fund to cater for needy former footballers across the continent including Ghana.

The budget for the fund named after CAF President Issa Hayatou was approved at the CAF Executive Committee meeting of 21-22 September.

The fund will administered under a yet to be constituted management.

The formation of the fund was first approved at the last CAF General Assembly hosted in Marrakech, Morocco in March.

It will be used to cater for needy ex footballers in the form of primary health care, education support for their children and others.

This decision is in line with an idea being developed by the Ghana FA to set up a fund to cater for needy ex national footballers.

Will the MONEY reach them? SMH

  4. GHFUO, BE SERIOUS NOT PRIDEFUL! says:

this is useless!! THE DIRECTIVE SHOULD COME FROM FIFA N CAF FOR THE RESPECTIVE NATIONAL FA’S TO FOLLOW. EACH CLUB MUST OFFER AN INSURANCE N HEALTH PACKAGE TO ITS PLAYERS. PERHAPS, THE CLUBS THEMSELVES NEED TO REGISTER WITH SSNIT OR SMTHING….THE GFA/PLB MUST ALSO SET ASIDE A PAYMNT OR CONTRIBUTIONALRY PLAN FOR ALL CURRENT PLAYERS. FOR EACH PAYCHECK U GET, A PORTION OF THE MONIES GOES INTO THE EX PLAYERS FUND. THIS MONEY WILL BE ADMINISTERD N USED BY THE GFA/PLB FOR INVESTMNT PURPOSES. PERHAPS, THE GFA/PLB ITSELF SHOULD LIST ON THE GSX AND RECOGNIZE THEMSELVES AS A PRFIT MAKING COMPANY ON BEHALF OF THE PLAYERS N THE WORKERS. LOOK AT ALL THE REVENUE MAKING INITIATIVES THE PLB N GFA ARE INVOLVED IN? IF THEY PUT THEIR BRAINS TO IT N DO IT PROPERLY. THEY CAN MAKE MORE PROFIT N ISSUE DIVIDENDS TO SHAREHOLDERS
