Kotoko striker Ahmed Toure has hit back at Hearts fans over claims he's betrayed the club, insisting he's a 'businessman'.

The 27-year-old swerved the capital-based side to re-sign for Kotoko despite playing two competitive games for the club.

Hearts fans have been angered by the player’s attitude but the Ivorian hitman has blamed the former African champions for letting him slip through their hands.

“If I did not want to play for Hearts of Oak, I won’t have gone there in the first place. I wanted to taste life in Accra too, and they were my first point of call. It wasn’t that they invited me to come and play for them, I did so willingly and was ready to sign for them”, he is quoted by sportscrusader.com.

“Yes it is true I came to Hearts with the intention of playing for them in the coming season, but they could not meet my demands and they know it.

Football to me is business and I am a businessman so when I saw that they were dragging their feet I had to make a bold decision on my career and Kotoko was then also chasing me so I had to join them.

“I am a professional and I look out for my own interest that is exactly what I did. Nobody forced me to sign for Kotoko, I did so on my own accord.”

Toure has signed a three-year deal with the Kumasi-based side.
