Yartey, Atsu named in Ghana squad, Paintsil axed

Yartey has received his first call-up for the Black Stars
Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has handed two in-form youngsters Ishmael Yartey and Christian Atsu their debut call-ups for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia.
John Paintsil has been left out of the squad for the first time in many years after being inactive since the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Europe-based youngsters Ishmael Yartey and Christian Atsu were among the six players who were handed their maiden Black Stars call-ups.
Nine home-based players were also named in the squad with Berekum Chelsea trio of Ernest Sowah, Emmanuel Clottey and Richard Kissi Boateng included.
The team will start a non-residential camp in Accra on 21 May, 2012.
The squad will be pruned down before the team departs to Kumasi on 27th May ahead of the match against Lesotho on 1st June, 2012.

I don’t know wat to say about this selection. To me it kinda looks descent but like i said there is no small teams in Africa b cause every country in Africa are preparing a huge surprise. LETS GO ZAMBIA LEGGOOO AFRICA.

Well, let Massahudu do his thing, but am also surprised Abdul Majeed Warris was not called—he’s the hottest out there now….and no Quincy? Well, Adomah and Yartey are superb so no problem…..but we still need clinical finishers up there like Warris and later, Ransford Osei! Clottey is ok..yep…but I don’t trust Baffour yet although he’s a ‘local champion’ due to the lack of quality on the local scene! I am ok with the selection beause at least, our midfielders are like strikers—from Yartey, Kwadwo and Muntari to Adomah…etc….so no fears….

Ghanaians we are never satisfied. Let the coach see these players and make the changes when needed. He has not cut off other players so the door is open for others. Personally I think if this coach really utilises the quality available and gets the best from the team in man management and tactis then this could be a powerful team…but discipline is important.

Decent squad,yet so many omissions that could have provided the necessary competition for places in the BS TEAM,Salifu Amidu has been very regular for fiorentina,so is Abdul Majeed Waris,Quincy O.Abeyie,and locally the likes of Baba Abdul Rahman,Yaw Frimpong,Abdul Basit,Asiedu Attobrah and Solomon Asante.I think these players should be considered next time to at least justify the confidence reposed in them,I STILL BELIEVE WITH HUNGER,HARDWORK,EFFICIENCY IN FRONT OF GOAL,AND SELF BELIEVE ON THE PART OF BOTH NEW AND OLD PLAYERS WE SHOULD BE SMILING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK WITH THE MAXIMUM 6 PTS IN OUR POCKETS,GO GHANA

Lee Addy learning marshal arts in China? Some of the comments on this site can easily pass as one the biggest comedies on this planet. Indeed, I am beginning to forget all my problems and stress at work by just reading some of the comments.Anyway, as somebody rightly put it, the coach is obliged to select certain number of players at a time & could therefore not satisfy everybody. We can only judge him by his results and not the kind of players he invites into Black Stars.
I am a Full Blooded Phobian, but I think Daniel Nii Adjei Deserves to be in the team as well as Waris. but lets see how it pans out. Remember the squard will be trimmed before the games. Gud Luck to Ghana and Ghana Black Stars or Ghana Gye Nyame Stars.

Coach Kwesi Appiah i like your choice and your style but is only Adiyiah that is not fit on the squad, the defence are good, the midfielders, solid, the forward 60% not yet completed there are some players left, Coach Appiah should try and give them a chance and try their best as they give others.

Lest I forget, coach, Adiyah should not be in this squad. You have also left out Waris, what is reason behind that. This guy is a scoring machine and I thought that is what the B/S need at the moment.
If the coach is being sincere without taking any bribes or doing his job without fear or favor then then ff should be the right selection for the 2013 CAN and 2014 World Cup tournaments.
