Juventus coach Antonio Conte has resigned in one of the most surprising pieces of news this summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport, SkySport, Sportitalia, Gianluca Di Marzio, effectively all the major football news sources in Italy, are now reporting the surprising developments surrounding The Old Lady.

It is widely believed that Conte has disagreed with the direction the Juventus board is pushing in this summer with regards to the transfer market.

This has already led to speculation that the departure of Conte is due to the imminent sale of Arturo Vidal to Manchester United – so far unconfirmed by the Italian press.

Conte has apparently rejected a new three-year deal with Juventus and was expected back at pre-season training today but instead came to disagreements with the board at the Serie A champions.

After three seasons of winning the Scudetto, Antonio Conte took to YouTube to announce his departure from Juventus – see the video below.

The former Juventus midfielder now looks like the heavy favourite to succeed Cesare Prandelli as Italy coach.
