Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson has cancelled his contract with Cypriot top-flight side Doxa Katokopia, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

This paves the way for him to seal a bumper cash move Turkish second-tier side Balikesirspor after an initial attempt failed last week, Ghana’s leading football news website can reveal.

GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal that he will finally sign a deal with Balikesirspor in the coming hours to return to Turkish football.

The veteran goalkeeper’s move to Balikesirspor fell through after Doxa refused to accept the offer from the Turkish club for Kingson to move.

The 36-year-old glovesman has now taken advantage of a clause in his contract which allows him to cancel his relationship with Doxa.

He will sign a contract with Balikesirspor if he is successful in medicals to be completed on Thursday afternoon.

Kingson is seeking a move to a much competitive league to boost his World Cup chances.

The former Blackpool goalkeeper made 10 appearances for Doxa Katokopia before the winter break.

Kingson was an unused substitute in Ghana’s 6-1 win over Egypt last October in the first leg tie of the 2014 World Cup playoff.

We are taking players in topflight leagues to world cup to compete with Germany and Portugal among the rest, look at Olele? What can second tier footballing do for you? How well can that help you to block shots from CR7?

His sight is deteriorated drastically because of his old age. He cannot see long range shot. Putting him in Ghana post means every long range thunderbolt is a goal!

I agree with you. Is hard to say Olele is respected nowadays like he was in 2006 and 2010 just because he got older. But I do agree that he is now too old and losing his talent. We need to pass down the torch to younger and better fit players if we want to remain a footballing nation to be contended with. The guy has moved down to second tier … with all due respect, hes lost his talent. I was hoping he would retire on top, and our lasting image of him would be his skills and amazing reflexes not what is happening now
