Ex-Bayern Munich defender Sammy Kufour has been named in a new eight-man board to steer the affairs of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko, Metro941.com has reported.
In a shocking list of appointees by the owner of the club, the Asantehene, the King snubbed all known previous administrators of the club to name some new faces to manage the affairs of the club.
The former Bayern Munich centre-back and Ghana international is joined by legal practitioner Paul Adu Gyamfi, Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere and Frank Appiagyei.
Business tycoon Nana Ekuoba Kwadwo Gyasi (chairman of Nana K. Gyasi Co. Ltd), Jude Arthur (CEO of First Atlantic Bank), Dua Adonten and Nana Kusi II (Ankobeahene) are the other members on the board.
The appointment of the new Kotoko board was confirmed in a statement from Manhyia signed by Chief of Staff Kofi Badu.
The board are to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to run the day-to-day affairs of the Premier League champions.
One representative each from the National Circles Council and the Association of Old Kotoko players are to be elected to join the eight-man board – making it ten in total.
The new Kotoko board will be sworn into office by the club’s owner Otumfour Osei Tutu II on Wednesday at the Manhyia Palace.
