Black Queens are insisting they will not train because of unpaid bonsues

The Ghana senior women’s team have threatened to boycott training if their qualification bonus is not paid ahead of the 2014 Africa Women’s Championships.

The Black Queens players have been agitating for the due payment having qualified the nation for the African Cup to be staged in Namibia.

The team have been in camp at the Ghanaman Soccer School of Excellence in Prampram and have told the coach and officials they are planning to go on a training strike of their demands are not met.

“The players have informed me and officials that they are planning a strike,” Black Queens head coach Yussif Basigi confirmed to GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We trained this morning but then they have been agitating for their qualification bonus for some time now.

“They are yet to inform me when the strike will take effect but then we are trying to get things sorted.”

The Black Queens appear to be taking a cue from their male counterparts who abandoned two training sessions during the 2014 World Cup over delayed payment of appearance fees.

And coach Yussif Basigi admits the situation is hurting his preparation ahead of the African Cup.

“I would say it has been a bother on our preparations,” he adds.

“We are supposed to be focusing on training and improving ourselves bit we find ourselves in this situation rather.

“But the girls are making their point that they need their money to settle some outstanding bills before they leave for the African Cup.

“I will be meeting with the team’s management to try and get this sorted out as soon as possible.”

Ghana is drawn in a tough group at the Africa Women’s Championships where they will be facing South Africa, Cameroon and Algeria in Group B.
