Ayew brothers get Ghana FA letter to rescind decision to quit Black Stars

Andre and Jordan Ayew have quit the Ghana national team

By Ameenu Shardow

Andre and Jordan Ayew have received letters from the Ghana FA urging them to rescind their decision to quit the Black Stars, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The Olympique Marseille duo slapped in their letters to prematurely hang their international boots on Monday.

While Andre says he is ‘emotionally and psychologically’ unfit to play for the Black Stars over recent problems with the team’s management, Jordan also wants assurance of a regular place in the side.

The decision by the two sons of Ghana legend Abedi Pele to quit the national team has sharply split opinions of fans of the four-time African champions.

While some believe their decision ought to be respected and be left alone, others insist their return is crucial to the success of the Black Stars in upcoming assignments.

The Ghana FA however after an Emergency Committee meeting on Wednesday, have decided to invite the two players to hear their concerns.

The Ghana duo have already taken deliveries of letters from the association asking them not to quit the Black Stars.

The Ghana FA have also assured the players their concerns will be heard and dealt with.

The new development is expected to further split public opinion as to whether it was the right move to take by the Ghana FA – knowing it could be seen in some quarters as preferential treatment being offered the Ayews.

An official announcement is expected to be made by the Ghana FA to explain the rationale behind their latest move in trying to get the two players available for selection to coach Akwasi Appiah.

Is the Ghana FA right to urge the Ayew brother’s to rescind their decision to quit the Black Stars?

    GFA respect their decisions…

  2. Tanko says:

I think GFA want to force the AYEWS to be part of their failures. They made it clear that they want temporary out. There was no need to pressurize the to change their minds. Why did did AA stood firm on his decision to oust Dede out of his team and there was no one in the GFA set to tell AA that his decision was good but it would affect the team in the near future. Now, the near future is here but you see that the GFA now has a voice beyond AA. What a mess! If we’re the AYEWS, nothing would make me change my mind until the management is out of sight.

  3. Troy says:

It pains me this guys are feeling this way. Its all the GFA’s fault. I blame them. Let the clean the rot at their offices 1st before this guys would return. After Our Arab Nigga Asamoah Gyan the captain also retired from the Team. And his mates are following his footsteps.

  4. JUSTACOMMMENT says:

they made a bad precedent with Gyan, how do u reward somebody who quits on his return with captains band? it was a massive mistake and they have started reaping the reward. So now the modus operandi for preferential treatment is threaten to quit, the others will also take a note how they handle the Ayews, next it will be D Boateng then Annan then it goes on n on…way out encourage them to return but no preferential treatment upon return.what if they return n the others also quit?

  5. Ng'ambi says:

Its really a Muppet show now.Everyone can wake up and resign at will.Sulley Muntari,Essien,KPB,Gyan and now Andre AND Jordan.REAL MUPPET SHOW

  6. Fiifi says:

I thought Ghana has thousands of talents, especially in the local league and A.A. has the best squad which didn’t include the Ayews!!?? What does the GFA need the Ayews for?? Leave the duo in peace for them to improve on themselves and later when they are in top-form and you need them call them. Prior to AFCON , the Technical team said the two were not needed, becos the GFA had better-suited players, those players are still available apart from the thousands of talents in the local league! Afterall the present captain also resigned temporarily and this was accepted! He came back even “better” than before and became the captain and was the “best” Black Stars player at AFCON 2013! Please respect their decision!! GFA MANAGEMENT C’TTEE DOESN’T WANT(LIKE) THE TWO, THE TWO DO NOT WANT TO FORCE THEMSELVES ON THE TEAM AND GFA (AFTERALL THE OTHER PLAYERS REJOICED WHEN THEY WERE TOLD IN THE ABU DHABI CAMP THAT ANDRE HAS BEEN AXED FROM THE SQUAD), SO its a win-win situation. Time for the two parties to reflect on the past and consider what lies ahead of them in the future! BOTH OF THEM NEED THIS “TIMEOUT”!!!

  7. Black Stars Fan says:

Why should this be in the media? Who are those running our football? Couldn’t they travel to France and quietly iron out this issues? OH GHANA !!!! DAB3N ?

  8. RAS says:

i think this site sucks…. what nonsense is this? Is it a crime for the FA to hear the side of the brothers in this case?

  9. donking says:

its sad for all these things to be happening to a country lyk Ghana, seriously i dont think Dede nd his brother Jordan enjoy what they wrote bt its was out of pain dat led to all these wahala. nd seriously we all know d pedigree of d Ayew brothers nd their work rate on the field of play, nd so does AA trying to tell ghanaians that Adomah, Atsu, Asamoah Gyan, derick boateng injured Anthony Annan nd Richmond Boakye Yiadom? certainly NO. i think its abt tym our FA shld move from being money minded to more business like minded, nd to b truthful to the people of Ghana. i wish d Ayew Brothers d best of luck

  10. Samedge7 says:

Fiifi, i support ur 100./’. Is Emmanuel Clottey better than Jordan Ayew? When Gfa realised France wanted Jordan, they(Gfa) invited & gave him 10mins playing against Swaziland 3 years ago only to anchor & damp him. Look the Ayew brothers could have made it up into the France national team. Kwesi Nyantakyi,A. Appiah & de others in the team wil soon represent Blackstar when all boys resign from the team bcos of corruption & bribes goin on dere.

  11. yopoo says:

I know GFA is putting Pressure on these guys to come and play and qualify Ghana for the world cup after that they will ditch them again.
No player will be to play under a coach who doesn’t like him.
GFA can’t say they don’t Akwesi Appiah doesn’t like these boys.
I want them to come after the world cup qualifiers after all the coach the players he took to afcon to play for now.

  12. ck says:

There are lots of talented players in ghana but mismanagement and bribery has made ghana trophiless for 31yrs. The funny thing is that football in ghana has become a business that people/group of people are happily running, even the national teams. God please help ghana.
