Gyan is a doubt for Ghana’s game against Sudan on Friday

By Patrick Akoto

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is a doubt for Sunday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sudan with a late injury setback.

The in-form Al Ain attacker pulled out of Friday’s training session after complaining of pains in his right thigh.

He suffered the injury during the team’s 5-0 friendly win over second-tier Asokwa Deportivo at the Baba Yara stadium.

The 27-year-old was hoping to shake off the problem but could not bear the pains in the thigh and therefore pulled out of the penultimate training session.

Gyan will undergo a scan on Friday morning to determine the extent of the problem.

The result of the scan will determine his involvement in this weekend’s World Cup qualifier against the Nile crocodile at the Baba Yara stadium.

The potential absence of the former Sunderland hitman will be a huge source of worry to coach Kwesi Appiah and his backroom

Ghanaian fans are waiting anxiously for the outcome of the scan as he is hugely regarded as the country’s best striking option in the last ten years.

Coach Kwesi Appiah could rely on Abdul Majeed Waris and David Accam in the worse scenario Gyan fails to recover in time for the must-win game.

  5. prime says:

I’m not really a fan of Gyan recent performance, but, I believe he’s the best we’ve got with his experience. I’m pretty sure you will change your mind and understand that hes the best we have at the moment after the match. I wish him a speedy recovery.

    • Black Stars Fan says:

Asamoah is not the best we have!!!. At 2012 AFCON, how many goals did he score? and at AFCON 2013?
He is the best striker to Akwasi Appiah. Even Drogba has been dropped because of dip of form, but Ghana? we love and worship anything. Gyan’s game has tremendously gone down and every informed soccer fan knows it.

      • Randy says:

Gyan was sent off the last time we played against Sudan in Kumasi. Ghana played with ten men, nobody is saying anything about that. Gyan not playing on Sunday might be a thing for Ghana.

  6. veloso says:

Reasons Ghana players are running away

Andre ayew ”am tired of losing to mighty chipolopolo.4 consecutive times now Mighty zambia keep disgracing an shame us I can’t stand this I retire frm international football prematurely”

Micheal Essien”so GFA think am a fool?zambia are King of africa they are 3 pionts above us and Gfa invites me to join them and suffer in the hands of zambia.they keep losing to zambia.now tell me where they will get those three pionts and leapfrog zambia??.am enjoying myself in real madrid despite am cleaning superstar strike cristiano ronaldo’s boots am ok with that than to suffer with ghana.bcos is only a foreign tactician that can beat zambia not local sisi coach”

Asamoah gyan ”zambia is better than us we keep losing to them.”

  14. At long last the battle has ended and Gyan the dissapointed captain is injured how can a player who plays at UAE can be Ghana’s captain if not because bribe.

  15. texas says:

Zombians are timid, barbaric, largely uneducated people, and their country is one of the most backward nation on earth. A country with the sixth largest HIV/AIDS infections in the world! We will make sure all zombian chipolopolo players, their technical team including their coach go thorough HIV/AIDS TEST before even been allowed to enter Kumasi Stadium to play against our PRECIOUS BLACK STARS!
No wonder the Chinese are killing the zombians in their own country and taking over that useless country. The least said about a country that raises people king the better. The Chinese will erase all of you barbaric zombians from the face of this earth!

  16. Olembe says:

  25. King says:

@kwame I understand what you are saying but as you can see there are bunch of illiterates in this website people like Ghanaman, self made, texas etc.who can’t argue about football without insulting someone.so stop them before you can stop me BRO!
