Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been ruled out of AC Milan’s opening Serie-A game at Verona on Saturday through injury, putting him in danger of missing the Black Stars crucial clash against Zambia next month.
The 26-year-old limped off in Milan’s 1-1 draw in the UEFA Champions League playoff against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
The influential midfielder has been unable to recover in time for their opening game of the Italian Serie A season.
Boateng’s injury exacerbates the woes of manager Massimiliano Allegri for Saturday’s Serie-A opener as he will also be without Nigel De Jong who also came off injured in Tuesday’s match.
The news of Boateng’s injury could serve a massive blow to Ghana following his decision to return to international football.
The former Portsmouth man is believed to be in line for his first Black Stars call up in over two years for next month’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
He will however miss this important game if he fails to make a quick recovery in time for the match to be played on September 6 in Kumasi.
