AC Milan star Kevin-Prince Boateng has hinted he could return to the Ghana national team but has taken a massive swipe at football facilities in the country.

The 25-year-old, who quit the Black Stars in November last year, claims it is dangerous to walk the streets of Ghana even though is country is rated among the safest in Africa.

The former German youth international profited massively by playing for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa which eventually earned him his dream move to the Italian giants.

Boateng, who secured a nationality switch in time to feature for Ghana in South Africa, claims the physical exertions of both club and national team football was detrimental to his health.

But in a latest defence to his decision which infuriated many Ghanaians, the former Portsmouth player says he may well make a future return to the Black Stars while suggesting the environment and facilities in Ghana are far inferior to what he used to.

"I chose to leave the national team because at Milan we play every 3-4 days, and I didn’t want to exhaust my body," Boateng said.

"But in Ghana I saw what a really difficult situation that they’re in. It’s even dangerous just to walk on the streets.

"And their infrastructure isn’t the best. Ghana is a closed chapter for me now.

"But I don’t regret the choice of having quit the Ghana national team. Perhaps I might change my mind in the future."

Boateng has rejected several moves by the Ghana FA and even his own family to have him rescind his decision.

Interest to have him back to the Black Stars was reignited following Ghana’s poor finish at the 2012 Nations Cup but he once again turned down the overtures.
