Boakye-Yiadom yet to reach peak level- agent

Posted On Friday, 11th January 2013

Richmond-Boakye Yiadom scored for the Black Stars in the 3-0 win over Tunisia

The agent of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations-bound striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom says the youngster is still on the learning curve.

The 19-year-old came off the bench to score in Thursday’s 3-0 warm-up match against Egypt in Abu Dhabi.

Boakye has now scored two goals in four appearances for the Black Stars and expected to play a key role at the Nations Cup finals.

The former Ghana U20 striker is down the pecking order of strikers for the tournament.

“Richmond has the potential but he wants to bide his time,” Fifa agent Oliver Arthur told MTNFootball.com

“He has been in top form in the Serie B but the player is not getting carried away.

“Playing in the Africa Cup of Nations require some grit and he must learn that in camp.”

Boakye scored nine goals in 15 appearances for his Serie B side Sassuolo before the winter break.

He has never been Akwasi Appiah’s favourite but always proud his worth anytime he’s given the chance.we saw it against cape verde,China and Egypt lastnite.AA has to rethink about this chap!

    • texas says:

That is why he is in the team right now! That is why he was in the on those occasions you mentioned. I don’t think we should label any player as favorite. Players should be chosen based on the form and their commitment to player for Ghana even though the rewards for playing for country is far less than what they get from their professional clubs. That is exactly what AA has done so please guys let us cut AA some slack!

  2. why says:

Keep it up son. With hard work, determination & prayers you will be one of the the young finest potential that will make it big at AFCON 2013.

  3. TRuMPET says:

If Man United were the Black Stars, Ghanaians will be screaming their lungs out that SAF does not like Hernandez cos he always plays from the bench and SAF would have been sacked by now. Some Ghanaians can be very ignorant sometimes.
