Black Stars to win trophy if they beat Liberia

Posted On Monday, 10th September 2012

Ghana will play Liberia on Tuesday in a friendly

The Black Stars will win a giant trophy if they beat Liberia in an international friendly in Monrovia on Tuesday.

The Lone Star will take on the Black Stars at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville.

The winner of the game will win the Presidential Friendship Cup 2012.

The one day football fiesta is being organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberia Football Association, under the proud Sponsorship of Lone Star Cell MTN, Liberia’s leader in converged telecommunications services and partner of choice, to promote friendship between the peoples of the two West African Nations.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has donated a giant size trophy to be lifted high by the winner after 90 minutes of play.

Both teams are preparing for the second-leg of the AFCON’s final qualifier, which is scheduled to take place in South Africa, next year.

I want the Liberians to take advantage of this opportunity and use this game as good practice for their team because it is not often that they will get the chance to play Top team like the Blackstars in a friendly especially when a couple of influential stars like Ayew, Gyan and Kwadwo Asamoah are gonna play in the game.

Yes, u can win that silly cup. leave AFCON to us

  3. sade says:

At last a chance for the mighty black stars to win a trophy.n like selfmade would put it viva to the black stars revolution……as for the zambians pliz leave ghana alone they have got cup 2 worry about.let them concentrate as u guys concetrate on the AFCON trophy

  4. yvonne says:

u ve got uganda 2 worry abt. ur one goal project will nt win u afcon. as Sepp Blatter rightly put it, the likes of Zambia and Chelsea football club re the reason why we ve the sayin dat “the best do not always win” n thus ve 2 find an alternative 2 the lottery of penalties. u re a disgrace 2 the game…u win one afcon by packin the bus n thru the lottery of penalties n u fink u re the best in africa? u will be exposed very soon. have u seen how athletico madrid humiliated chelsea? dats wat happens to bus-packing teams. urs is underway.

  5. sade says:

@yvonne u sound so bitter ma man here is a glass of water.i can understand tho i mean 30 years is to long to stay trophy less let me tel u u guys are stil lacking something 2 be afcon champs.ivory coast will again be the main challengers n not Ghana dats jst a fact.ureason u hv got a bunch bt immature players who rid on the gloro of 1882 Ooooopsy ma mistake 1982.

    • Maxwell Dupri says:

What do you mean by trophyless? Is Ghana not the most Consistent team in Africa from Ages? We rarely miss making it to every Afcon and within the past 30 years you just mentioned, go and check your records as to how many times we have made it to the finals or 3rd place for silver and bronze? I know 2nd and 3rd place all the time is not the ultimate but that is consistency! Even the likes of ivory coast jumped to the scene a few years back when Ghana has always consistently been a strong name in African football. When Africa needed a team to hold it down on African soil in 2010 worldcup which country did it? In 2006 worldcup check our exploits! At 2006 and 2008 Afcon check we came 2nd place twice when the the different winners of both were nowhere to be found! at 2010 afcon we were making it again to the finals if not for the Ghost of your departed players playing for you ( may they R.I.P). You zambians have a lot to prove if you really deserve recognition. Ask yourself What makes you always come to ghanasoccernet? because you yourself is a fan of Ghanaian soccer! :-)
