Ghana will camp in either USA or Europe ahead of the World Cup

Ghana are planning to hold their pre-tournament camping for the 2014 World Cup in the USA or Europe, the Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has revealed.

Appiah says an early camping for the Black Stars at the end of the football season in Europe could give them the much-needed preparation ahead of the tournament in Brazil in June.

The Black Stars have been drawn in a tough Group G at the tournament in Brazil where they will face Germany, Portugal and the United States.

With the weather in America and Europe similar to that of Brazil during the World Cup, coach Appiah says they are likely to camp in one of those regions.

“We will be camping either in America or Europe – that is the program the Ghana Football Association are designing,” Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah said.

“That will give me the chance to (closely) monitor some of the players as well. As we all know some of our best players are injured and I will have to be with team to know their strength.

“We have to prepare well for the World Cup. As I always say coaching the Black Stars is not really difficult but managing them off and on the pitch is the problem.

“We will have to start camping now, knowing where will suit the team so we can have time to prepare well for the competition.”

The Black Stars will be making their third successive appearance at the World Cup.

Whiles the Germans are going to build a Camp in Brazil, Ghana want to Camp in Europe or USA? For What? Why not Camp in a south American Country closer to Brazil? How I wish we could get friendly matches with Colombia, Chile, Belgium, France, Argentina etc. These countries will toughen our team.

    • texas says:

@ Speed: Very good camping base and very good move by Germany. That shallow minded sports presenter with one of the FM stations in Ghana called songo or zongo or what ever on his fire for fire program will not say the Germans decision is a bad one or criticize them, but let the GFA make the move you Speed has suggested and see how that weed smoking presenter will insult and castigate them..

  2. www.supplementalincomeforall.com says:

Very good AA. Is always good to prepare ahead of time. Wish u all the best

  3. Nana says:

This is unbelievable, even USA and Europeans are going to a near by place to get use to weather and we are going to camp in Europe or US , should I call it stupidity or ignorance, Katakyie Kwasi Apiah ,am your big fun don’t let me loose confidence, people in USA r making a mockery out of it .Please don’t fail black people.

    • Caputo says:

Man we’re Africans for crying out loud, we don’t need to worry about the weather.what we need is a good environment and equipments to train with,we will quickly acclamatize once we touched base in Brazil

  4. Nana says:

We must as well camp in Ghana

  5. Nii Kwatei says:

Why not stay in Salvador, the African capital of South America? They are all black African there, with the whole culture, people, food, everything is African. And Speed is right, staying in Brazil would also give us the chance to line up high profile friendlies.

  6. Dan says:

I am hoping this is just a joke. USA????? I think he meant somewhere in the Americas not necessarily the US.

  7. Anokwale says:

They really should be camping in Ghana and then go to Brazil.

  8. sejay says:

let me just chip in a bit. to those are criticising USA, know this, in summer time the southern USA has a high temperature u can ever imagine. I live here on this continent for 13 years. schooled here and I have been to 45 states out of 50. trust me, we as ghanaian can chose southern USA which is Texas camp in that time and that weather will be same as Brazil. USA team are going down south bcus almost all of the players base in north and middle part in USA. Europe and USA if u ask me I would say USA since I know Europe also as much as USA. But Europe weather, even summer in Europe is like spring in USA. let me tell u, in summer, USA becomes humid which sometimes some of us wish we could run to Ghana. I always love when I come to Ghana on summer bcus of the severe heat. so I think USA will be ok if they chose here. its always hot in USA in summer than Ghana.

    • texas says:

You got a point! Am from Texas and man, I can tell you it get hotter here than Ghana in the summer!

      • ZG GH4LIFE says:

My Brothers please, i live in Dallas, if the blacks stars come to Dallas to camp before Brazil, they will loose about 100 pounds each before the World cup starts, the heat in Texas is a curse, its fire, u cant even stand outside for 10 mins lol

        • Stranger Danger says:

what about Florida? I like the weather here. We do get a lot of sun, but the palm trees and all the green here keeps it relatively cooler than in Texas; not too hot to make you lose weight and fairly confortable

  9. Assemblyman says:

Camping in USA will expose our strategies to the Americans.I dont agree Europe is any better.Maybe one of those South American countries will do..Well,these folks dont listen even when we comment here. All the best to Ghana..

  10. DOGO says:

Put them on the Akuapem mountains and let them run up and down the hill in two times a day and for a month then ship them to Brazil to practice build cohesion and sharpen their skills and they will be find. No need for USA or Europe. Just saying my view.

  11. kuukuphilly says:

this will be a big mistake

  12. me says:

while USA,& Germany are camping in Brazil, we completely doing the opposite.
