Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara insists winning the World Cup is a real possibility for the Black Stars since they are given the best of treatment as compared to perennial winners of the tournament.

The Black Stars will be making a third straight appearance at the finals that kicks off on June 12 in Brazil.

Ghana is drawn in a considerably tough group alongside Germany, Portugal and the USA.

And while many believe winning the World Cup especially for an African country is only a mirage, the Ghana FA officials say it can be achieved in Brazil.

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi had earlier stated that the Black Stars will be tasked to winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil – a target the association’s spokesman believes is well within the realistic capability of Kwesi Appiah’s team.

“It [winning the World Cup] is a realistic target,” Daara said on Metro TV’s Sports File.

“The things that differentiate title winners from mere participants, we have them.

“If the title winners are sleeping in five star hotels, paid good bonuses and the rest, we also give the same treatment to our players.

“And therefore with these in place there is the expectation that the players will respond by performing on the world stage.”

Ghana will commence its campaign against the USA on June 16 in Natal before taking on Germany and Portugal in the subsequent Group G games.

The Black Stars has only able to make it to the quarter finals of the World Cup but there is growing sense that the current crop can make history in Brazil.
