Many foreign-based Ghanaian players have returned to Ghana for the Christmas holidays and are still struggling to reunite with their traditional African way of life but Helsingborg’s David Accam is doing his just differently, he has got the African way – pounding fufu .
The 23-year-old who is not just a footballer but also holds a bachelor’s degree in education has been living the original African way of life in Tema – Ghana and pounds fufu – a local Ghanaian delicacy, for his family.
Most African players struggle to find African foods in Europe and other continents where they ply their trades and return home to mostly enjoy the African way of life when they have their breaks.
For Accam who has been a revelation in the Swedish top-flight for the past two seasons and has attracted interests from Arsenal and Napoli, he wants to enjoy every African opportunity lacking in Europe before he rejoins Helsingborg for the pre-season.
“I have to remain with the family and spend time with them. Mostly I’m home and I want to help with work. I pound fufu for my mom and the rest of the [family],” he o told GHANAsoyereccernet.com
It is the only way that makes me feel that I’m back home and in Africa because you don’t hear the sound of the pound in Europe and its been a long period absence.”-
Almost every foreign-based Ghanaian player is back in Ghana for the Christmas holidays with the exception of some few stars.
