Richmond Boakye-Yiadom wants to be fit for the Nations Cup
Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom hopes to regain full fitness before Sunday’s opener against DR Congo at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The teenager twisted his ankle in training on Tuesday at their base in Abu Dhabi and had to limp off.
He is being monitored by the Black Stars medical team who expects the 19-year-old to train on Thursday.
Boakye was impressive for the team during their pre-tournament tour where he scored in the 3-0 win against Egypt.
He is confident of winning the recovery battle.
“It hurts but I’m told it is nothing serious and I expect to be ready for the DR Congo match,” the Sassuolo striker said.
“The medical team checked on me and it is nothing serious so we have to look at the coming days and see what will happen. I’m confident. ”
Boakye will be making his Africa Cup of Nations debut.
good for us….
light training Mr Appiah
So are going to play two strikers or our usual one goal project…wish the stars all the best
I think we will be playing one striker looking @ our game against Tunishia
We’ll play one striker and 2 offensive midfielders so when attacking it will look like a 4-3-3 formation. Watching the Egypt game, he seems to lean towards a 4-2-3-1
I think we might just surprise a lot of people in this tournament. We might actually witness a Ghana – Côte d’Ivoire final which should have happened last time but it was good it didn’t happen cos we were weak and they would have taken the cup. This time we are strong enough to handle them. It will be a cracker of a finale cos both teams are looking very sharp!
