The Black Stars have become advocates for cleanliness in Ghana ahead of their participation at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The campaign, in conjunction with Ghanaian sanitation firm Zoom Lion is dubbed; ââ¬ÅA clean Ghana is victorious Ghana.ââ¬
The Black Stars and Ghana FA officials launched the campaign during a visit to the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant (a subsidiary of Zoom Lion) on Thursday.
ââ¬ÅWe all agree that if we keep our environment clean most of the common ailments such as Malaria, Typhoid fever, Cholera and other public health challenges will be eliminated,â⬠Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi said at the launch.
ââ¬ÅThrough the medium of football, the Black Stars team have become a champion and an advocacy group against some of these ailments we find in society.
ââ¬ÅWe will like to associate ourselves with this laudable initative of Zoom Lion so that football which is the most popular sport in this country will be used as a vehicle to preach cleanliness.
ââ¬ÅAnd at the end of the day, we all stand to gain from it.ââ¬
The initiative which forms part of the national teamââ¬â¢s social responsibilities will see various Black Stars players and Ghana FA officials champion the course of the need of a clean society.
The Black Stars have in the past promoted campaigns for the eradication of Malaria and HIV/AIDS.
