Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed the Black Stars felt better loved while playing away against Togo than they did in their own country against Uganda.
The Ghanaian fans turned against their own players in protest to the circumstances leading to the teamââ¬â¢s crashing exit from the 2014 World Cup.
Disaffection for the Black Stars is at its apex due to player revolt over the delayed payment of appearance fees and indiscipline amongst some players during the World Cup in Brazil.
The players were booed at in their opening 2015 AFCON qualifier against Uganda in Kumasi where the Black Stars disappointingly drew 1-1.
The Black Stars however enhanced their performance days later to beat Togo 3-2 to get their qualification bid to the 2015 AFCON back on track.
GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has now revealed the Black Stars felt more loved playing away than playing home but concedes the Black Stars have no other choice that to play their home games in Ghana.
ââ¬ÅThe reception in Togo was much better than in Kumasi,â⬠Nyantakyi told the Presidential Commission on Wednesday.
ââ¬ÅThe fans were running after the players, chanting their names and hailing them.
ââ¬ÅSome of the players were even telling me that why donââ¬â¢t we play our home games in Lome.
ââ¬ÅBut home is home. How long can you run away from your home?ââ¬
