John Boye in action for Rennes in the French Ligue 1

Ghana defender John Boye has returned to the starting line-up of French side Rennes after serving a one-match suspension.

The 25-year-old played for his club in a top-flight league game on Friday night to mark his return after serving the ban.

Boye played the entire duration of the game for Rennes who were beaten 2-0 by St. Etienne.

The Ghanaian was banned for one match by the French league authorities for accumulating yellow cards.

His return is a boost for Rennes as he is one of the club’s key performers this season.

Boye’s return to regular playing time is a boost to his chances of making Ghana’s squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa in two months’ time.
