Ghana are one of the favourites for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
Ghana will play European champions Spain in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil if the Black Stars manage to win next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
The Black Stars are one of the favourites for Africa’s flagship competition and a fifth continental title success will hand them a historic clash against the world champions.
The next African champions will battle Spain, Tahiti and Uruguay in Group B, while Group A houses hosts Brazil Japan, Mexico and Italy.
The draw was held in Sao Paulo on Saturday for the competition, which will take place from June 15 to 30 and will serve as a dress rehearsal for the 2014 World Cup also in Brazil.
Africa have yet to win this prestigious tournament with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon coming the closest to reach this global milestone when they lost 1-0 to France after extra time in the 2003 edition.
South Africa hosted the last tournament three years ago with Brazil beating United States of America 3-2 in a thrilling final. Spain placed third after they defeated the host country 3-2 after extra time.
Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire have also finished fourth in this competition among the various confederation champions.
BLACK STARS ARE JUST FAVORITES JUST AS IN 2012..BUT WHEN TIME COMES UNDERPERFORM
gh fools association. counting your chickens before……LOL
Ghanaian journalist like writing nonsense. We do not even know our first eleven players for the AFCOnyet, and somebody is dreaming of playing in the confederations cup. Dream on!!!
this is a dream, and i hope it should come true.
You guys have started again I won’t wait and see which players will be called and you already making noise.
I swear I get very upset anytime I read stories like this, the press has been the main reason why we’ve been underachieved for 3 decades now.
Always putting pressure on the team prior to major tournaments especially the AFCON but what do we see poor show after poor show, they’ve now started again. I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t win this tourney, we shouldn’t raise our hopes high at
all.
Couldnt have said it Better
Maxwell my brother please don’t be too harsh on the press, because they are not the deciding factor. The problem is that, we do not present our best players for the AFCON. Too much favouritism in selecting players to black stars.
Lets work hard, prepare for each opponent well by understanding them, and put it all on the line FIGHTING FOR EVERY INCH OF SPACE and EVERY BALL…. and we will be Champions again.
We always have a good team ready to fight for Ghana but these unqualified kumasi coaches do not have what it takes to win any cup.wise up*
This is no news. Everyone football follower know this.
gh socc…..mo agyimi paaaaa
Our journalists keep acting like their counterparts in England. They make too much noise and put pressure on the national team and we see very little when it comes to the action. Can they for once stop distracting the team?
Ghanaians den dema calculations ..!!!
Useless article
If you don’t have anything to write, just stop these irrelevant articles here. This is an open secret.Any team that wins the tournament will definitely play against them. As if you don’t learn from other better football websites. Goal and givemefootball will not publish such irrelevant article. Take a bow Ghana Soccernet.
