Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah unhappy despite AFCON semi-final feat

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah believes his side's lethargic second half performance against Cape Verde took the shine out of their progression to the semi-final.

The Black Stars pressured by the Blue Sharks during the entire second stanza of the quarter-final clash and were lucky not to have conceded-part to some brilliant saves from goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.

But the four-time African champions made experience count as midfielder Mubarak Wakaso scored a double to send them through to the last four.

Appiah, who maintained the same starting line-up which demolished Niger, celebrated the win but said some remedial amount of work is required ahead of Wednesday's clash in Nelspruit.

"The first half was okay."Appiah said after the game. "The second half was not one of our best games but I think we've got more room for improvement."

"We were playing so well until when we had the first goal. That was when we had some deficiencies in our midfield

"On a whole our mental attitude was really good. Cape Verde dominated the second half, but we stood up and and the most important thing was that we got the win at the end of the day.''

Ghana will play either Burkina Faso or Togo who are in action on Sunday.
