Kwesi Appiah

Kwesi Appiah’s two-year contract extension as Black Stars coach will cost the Ghana Football Association US$ 876,000, according reports.

The Graphic Sports publication on Monday new deal will see the ex-Ghana captain pocket a US$ 100,000 signing on fee.

According to the state-owned newspaper, Appiah’s salary will be upped to US$ 36,500 which is an 83% increment to the US$ 20,000 he earned in his previous contract.

Appiah was appointed Ghana coach in April 2012 and was tasked to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and qualify the team to the World Cup.

Last week, President Kwesi Nyantakyi announced the Executive Committee of the FA had agreed Appiah continued his job despite failing to progress from the Group stage at the 2014 World Cup finals.

A deal for a mandate extension was reached before the tournament began in last month.

Ghanaians should revolt against this highway robbery. This cannot be allowed to happen in this modern day Ghana. A guy with the brain size of a peanut, a dumb bass gets to rob the country with the help of another twit Nyantakyi. What has Akwesi Appiah done to deserve that kind of money?

Its about time fellow Ghanaians you rise up and storm the streets preventing this idiot from coaching the Ghana Black Stars and collecting such a huge amount..

My fellow Ghanaians are you sleeping? Our Parliamentarians are you sleeping? Cabinet Ministers are you sleeping? Is the President of Ghana sleeping while we are being robbed by two armed robbers NYANTAKYI and AKWESI APPIAH? What kind of country is this? everyone sleeping while money is being stolen to pay for STUPIDITY at ITS HIGHEST Level?

All those that have common sense, the Media and the citizenry should rise up and fight the powers that be at the GFA to stop the dumbdest human being in Ghana AKWESI APPIAH and the Biggest thief on the continent of Africa from making mockery of us. These two individuals are picking our pockets while every one is quiet? I cannot believe this.

I am outraged and pissed up to the hilt. I have no respect for this country anymore for what I am seeing. This country will always be beneath Nigerias feet for our apathy. LONG LIVE NIGERIA. I salute you from cleaning house at the NFA.

  2. OGYA says:

  6. Selfmade says:

Ghana has truely gone to the dogs. All Ghanaians are reasoning with their smelly asses.

  7. Vim says:

OGYA, i beg pls dnt diss wai……this is fuckery!!! A coach who doesnt knw diff btwn left back n left wing back, disgrace!! “i have many midfielders so i put K.Asamoah at left back” and they increase his money too?!!!… If he were Argentina’s coach he wud have put Messi at left back cos Argentina have Higuain,Aguero n Lavessi.

  8. Vim says:

Selfmade what do u mean by “all Ghanaians”??? U old enuf i dnt have to teach u basic english, dnt generalise it, say “GFA and you”

  9. Benny says:

OMG,Ghana is the only country which reward mediocrity.I am suspecting Nyantakyi has a percentage of AA earnings as pertain in African politics where politician add their cuts to contracts or they are rewarding AA to keep him quiet not to reveal anything damaging.
The simple solution is to boycott black star matches in protest. You are paying this good for nothing prick more than the president of Ghana. This money is aside all the training coarse from Liverpool, across Manchester City to anywhere.
Who will employ a novice as chief executive of a company?
Ghanaian leaders have lost their heads. After all what does football bring to Ghana other than shame, disgrace scandals and ridicule.I love Ghana with my heart but l don’t think l can leave in a country where sense means nothing.
Why not employ a top coach and give him the required pay.Kwarasey has said one reason he may not play for Ghana is Yakubu. He said all Yakubu does is getting them to dive all day with no technical direction.
With the economic hardship in Ghana ,the GFA are prepared to pay such ridiculous money to ex-footballer with no coaching pedigree who cannot guide any player to play left back his own playing position but use our best player for a cheap fix. That alone tells how clueless AA is.
In the whole year AA will be active for just 40 days out of 365 days and yet he will be payed throughout .

  10. ghanaluv says:

this corrupt FA does not care about Ghana they just care about what they will get out of it.something radical need to happen to stop this.

  11. KoJO says:

Am not going to say anything to this clueless monkey.. I hope country man songo fire him today..

  12. Rock says:

Oh Christ me, goodness me! Can’t Ghana get a any Coach in the world apart from technically corrupt coach Akwasi Appiah? A coach who said he was waiting for his opponent (USA) to get tied before he introduce his key players in the match. Goodness me.

  13. Piotoo says:

The only country in the world where mediocrity pays. Ghana the 21st century backward nation. This guy hasn’t achieved anything yet he get a pay rise……this is equivocal. A radical approach approach needs to be instituted to prevent the rot in GFA. This is very shady deal. Paying huge somes of money to an incompetent coach. I hope one day when AA wakes up his whole house will be shit bombed just like they did to Osam Dodoo.
AA is ineptitude indeed. Sach this foolish man.

  14. chris opoku says:

  16. Fiifi, Berlin says:

How much is Akwesi Nyantekyi’s share of this booty?!?!? How about the other ex committee members?!? The man is being rewarded for doing a bad job – both at AFCON 2013 and now W/C 2014! Are we waiting till this man destroys the Black Stars before we react? How much is Sellas Tetteh being paid for supplying the Black Stars with all those top young players???? Nyantekyi is really destroying Ghana Football!!!!

  17. TNT says:

For me i don’t no what guarantee this man another two yr contract. Is it base on performance?player selection?tactical approach?players control?player substitution? or what? we need to protest indeed. This is complete favoritism or probably what Nyantakyei may get from this contract. LOL!!

  18. A concerned citizen says:

Charge GFA for causing financial loss to the state. How can you throw away money like that?

  19. TrueGhanaian says:

Listen,my fellow Ghanaians;we should not allow this to happen.Akwasi Appiah must leave.Period.this guy has no clue.lets storm the streets and demonstrate. We should also boycott all black stars matches,if he insist to stay.this is absolutely nonsense to hire an incapable coach.Nyantekyi is a big fool.he must also leave.no fucking way should we allow this to happen in Ghana.

  20. Big mouth says:

Please fellow comrades, let’s start organizing ourselves to kick against this greedy bastards. Kwasi Appiah will never succeed as a coach of our dear Black Stars and Nyantekyi we must force to resign. The boss goes, his coach too will go.

  21. pacific says:

These people are detemine not go and the only way is push Them out by demonstrating and boycotting of black stars matches…kwasi nyantakyi and he people don’t respect us bcos. if they do ,they wouldn’t even of renewing akwasi Appiah’s contract and also increase his salary.

    Please the movement to sack the coach on facebook;

  25. the truth says:

good deal, he did his best but the players just didnt want to play.

  26. A concerned citizen.... says:

GFA should be charged for causing financial loss to the state. How can GFA reward failure in this 21st Century? The one whose technical brain is always in the opposite direction..His play maker is his best no.3..His bench warmer is his best goalkeeper…A rough tackler is his best no.6…Benching key players and starting average players is his best tactical discipline..His best way of instilling discipline in the team is to shout shout on players and share crocodile tears in front of them..What is this?

  27. spellBOUND says:

LOL. ghanians are in for 3 to 5 years of footballing mediocrity… under AA, we will be no match even for lesotho…kiss afcon 2015 and russia 2018 goodbye…

what has AA done to deserve a raise?? even better performing coaches did not get this…. this is truly funny..

  28. Antwi says:

Whoever said all the money will be going to Dr. Akwasi Appiah? After the failed attempt to milk the nation via the players. President Nyantakyi turns to his stooge to at least amass somthing little for himself. I need some education here. Do people take “signing on fees”when they are extending contracts? Eii… asemooo..

  29. Boro says:

Let me sound controversial here. In my opinion i think the forumites are allowing the pain of failure to qualify affect our sense of reasoning in being objective on what actually contributed to our failure. In our match against the US we dominated and there was always the hope we could win that match because of the way we played. AA said he wanted to break the US team before introducing his experience players but people unfairly critisized that which for me could not have been a bad plan. In our match against the Germans when all odds were turned against us we again dominated the germans and could have hammered them had it not been the selfishness of Jordan Ayew yet we managed to draw with the Germans. After that match we were all sure the BS could win handsomely against the Portuguese. Then the team is hit by the players revolt for failing to receive their appearance fee in cash and in time. They contibuosly insisted of physical cash and were not prepared to listen to anybody including the president the first gentleman on the land. The money is now naively airlifted to them later on when the harm of losing focus, player violent, coach abuse had all already been inflicted into the team. We lost against the portuguese after failing to show the same form as we did against the germans in the previous match. Meanwhile the Germans won their match againt the US team, a condition the BS needed to qualify from the group stage. The BS team over the years have struggled to get permanent player to mine our left full back and deploys Kwadwo Asamoah who excels in that position yet we are not happy. However, people are forgeting to realise that in the previous world cup Kwadwo operated from the midfield but failed to make an impact in the team than he has done this term. How is any of the above the making of the coach or the GFA boss if the major problem is the failure of players demanding cash only for their appearance fee. After listening to the press and the GFA i have come to the conclusion that people just want these men to go for not any any serious flaw on the part of the coach or the GFA. Hardly had Ghana played well under any of these serbian coaches and even the potuguese Bareto than they have done under AA and this is a fact. The only problem i have with AA is this atitude of favouritism, when he included Inkoom and Adomah in his team otherwise he managed to assembled the best crop of players than any of the coaches for over a decade and this is a fact too. AA should now be in the position to take further courses to broaden his knowlegde and modern tactics of the game. We should rather demonstrate against those whose action or inaction might have subortage AA’s effort if we truely want to be fair with ourselves and thoughts.

  30. maubs says:

boro it is some of our people’s acceptance of failure and mediocrity with camouflage excuses like you are ddoing now on here, that holds us back. The coach of Algeria has resigned? Nigerian is attempting to weed out its FA. Prior to the world cup and after a loss to chile, england a high powered commission to investigate its football structure and straightwaway arguments raged as to the suitability of people on the commission inorder for it to become effective. The commission has since done its job consulting so many people with something to offer. here we are in ghana and people still argue things should be left the same after money, corruption allegations and physical fighting in camp. Do you know what england will do if they were ghana?Boro arguments like yours are no good anymore for 2014. if a herbal medicine cure you or nearly cured you from an illness does it mean that paracetamol is no good any longer? the decision to reward failure is wrong. the decision not to consider learning from and putting some due corrections in place is not logical. Like Aristotle said Fantasy and dream like the gods and plato is nice but logic and science is also very very good.

  31. Alhaji says:

@chris we will all like to join and the support group against A.A we are all behind you,Naija is the true example of discipline, they always take d bold steps unlike my coward Ghanaians.Nyantakyi n his pals know we are afraid,we can’t do FOKO after some days they will be fine n it seems to be working…..

  32. Nii Addo says:

All of you guys, have no idea!!! The situation is more complicated than you think. I don’t agree with the performance and management of the blackstars during the world cup!!! But at this point, if you fire the coach: there will be more problems. For an example, it took nigeria almost 20 years to get pass the world cup last 16 since us 1994. Cameroon has not gone pass group stages since italia 1990. So what we have right now is the process of damage control. Therefore, if we get too emotional and fire the coach, it will be very difficult to set the same standards that we already have in the black stars
The transition has to be done slowly….. This is where politics and psycology comes in. Because when u fire Mr
appiah, then what are u telling the younger players? that Muntari and Boateng should be allowed to do what they want! Player power can destabilize a good team. In order for any sports team to function efficently and effectively, the head coach/manager should have total control of all decision making. So I think the decision to award him with a new contract is the best in terms for the long run… it might look strange but its a bold and good step by the GFA….. at this point.
