The 'Desert Warriors' are currently 15th on the official FIFA rankings, making them the highest ranked African team.

They have also secured qualification to the tournament with relative ease after winning all five of their Group B qualifying matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding only two.

Yacine Brahimi has been a key player for Christian Gourcuff’s team and has scored three goals in qualifying so far, including one against Ethiopia in Blida this weekend.

Brahimi will be hoping to count on Valencia’s Sofiane Feghouli to take the pressure off him as the star man of the team, and you can expect the 24-year-old to be another asset for his team.

Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon’s Islam Slimani is certain to provide a goal threat along with his strike partner, El Arbi Soudani, with both scoring 24 goals for their country between them.

At the back, Madjid Bougherra is providing plenty of experience and leadership for his team, while Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam will be a threat on the left flank, providing width for his teams attack and contributing defensively when needed.

With their impressive showing at this summer’s World Cup, Algeria appear to have all that’s necessary to truly make an impact at the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

What makes them particularly dangerous, is that 12 players out of their current 23-man squad are plying their trade in Europe’s top five leagues. The abundance of quality in their squad is scary!
