Black Maidens to play Germany for bronze at Fifa U17 Women's world cup

Posted On Tuesday, 9th October 2012

The Black Maidens will play Germany for third-place play-off on Saturday

By Patrick Akoto

Ghana will battle Germany for the third-place play-off in Saturday’s Fifa Under-17 Women’s World Championship in Azerbaijan.

The Black Stars set-up the date with the German side after they lost 2-1 to Korea DPR in their second semi-final game on Tuesday.

The Ghanaians side were beaten 2-0 by France in the first semi-final game at Baku.

The team will be seeking for revenge after they lost their opening group D game 2-1.

Ghana and Germany have been two of the most attractive teams in the tournament and their encounter may provide a goal fest on October 13.

Ghana will go into the game more determined to finish in third place.

They will see this as an opportunity to finish on a high and cement their names in the annals of women football on the African continent.

Too bad Ghana would not have the services of our most prized striker Ayieyam. All the same, the girls can still fight for the bronze.

i would like to GFA TO KEEPS TRAINS THESE GIRLS WELL SO THAT WE CAN USED THEM FOR UNDER 20 WOMEN TEAM NEXT TIME I THINK THEY WILL DO SOMETHING FOR AFRICA.

  4. williewinter says:

Congratulations to maidens and coaching staff but we could have beaten France.
Tactical mistake befall us, next time when we adjust our style of play, we do not continue the same tactics on another opponent in a different level. Japan was shocked but France had seen the system and worked to defuse it. Our players are the best so far and we need to mould them to win the under 20 world cup. It won’t be easy but with right strategy we can. 451,433 and 442 can be used on different teams. France packed the midfield, cut all supplies from the wings and we lost ideas.
Let’s shock the world and have our ladies study Barcelona style of play and perfect it. We will win the under 20 world cup. Upfront should be triangular passes, diagonal design and some cases straight counter passes. Please let these group begin Barcelona style of play now. We need more power upfront. Four players upfront should learn to score as well.
