Ghana coach Evans Adotey says he has achieved his first target at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup after beating Korea DPR 2-0 in their opener.

The Black Maidens needed goals from Janet Ayieyam and Sandra Owusu-Ansah to begin their campaign on a winning note.

Adotey, who was on the bench when Ghana won bronze in Azerbaijan two years ago, is delighted with the performance of his boys.

“My first objective was to win the first match against Korea DPR, and the second objective is to qualify for the knockout stage, so now our focus is on our next match against Germany,’’  Adotey said a post-match conference.

“Sometimes we lost our concentration so we need to look at that.

“We had a strategy for both our defence and attack and it worked perfectly.”
