French side AS Monaco have joined the race to sign Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah.

The French big spenders want to entice the Ghanaian international from Evian and could table an offer for him, according to reports in the French media.

The strong centre-back has become a subject of intense bidding from stellar clubs after he featured for the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Reports have emerged on Tuesday that Monaco look to be the most serious contender for his signature with new manager Leonardo Jardim believed to be a huge admirer of the talented defender.

“Monaco has expressed their interest and their offer looks tempting,” a source close to the player said

“The demand for Jonathan Mensah has gone up after the World Cup and it is most likely Évian will struggle to retain him.”
